I wanted a quality tarp to use as a "footprint" under my tent. It needed to be thick enough to protect the tent floor from sharp things but still flexible enough to fold up nicely. I think this tarp is just about right! I was interested what the final dimensions would turn out to be: 8' X 9' 4" One point that I think could be improved are the grommets. On my tarp the hole is large enough to admit a 1/2 rope. For any camping application that is way, way too large a rope to ever need or use! Such a large grommet forms a lump when folding and introduces a weakness in the tarp that is unnecessary. Actually it would be better to forgo the metal grommet and go with a reinforced nylon loop. As we say in the dairy business; udder wise it's fine!

It's very light but very sturdy. Am using it as ground cloth under metal crates and x-pens at agility trials, and it's perfect. Seems impervious to claws of large dogs, metal edges of crates, etc. Dries fast, folds small -- just what I needed. And if it rains at night at a trial, I take it from under everything and use it as a cover -- it's big enough to tuck in and keeps us dry.

I have used several of these tarps over the years. I return to them year after year, and they have become the only tarps I now use camping because of their versatility, strength and compact size.

...if it's possible for a tarp to be luxurious. I like it because unlike other tarps it's kind of soft and not "crunchy" like other cheaper tarps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DesertWalker Use it instead of a tent
ordered tarp to use as an alternative to a tent, used it five times this summer/fall and it served it's purpose as I hoped. Tarp is light weight, and can be configured a number of ways to provide shelter in most any terrain.

Very disappointed! Ordered the 10x12 tarp. When it arrived, my husband measured it. It's only 9x11, not 10x12. Had to return it. We planned to use it as the groundcloth for our 10x10 tent. If it was 10x12 as advertised, it would be perfect. As it is (9x11), it's not going to work at all. The material and the workmanship are good though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by carljsr Great item - very useful
I use my 8' x 10' tarp as a ground cover, under my LL Bean tent and its footprint because it extends into the tent vestibule, to keep shoes and stuff out of the dirt and mud. It provides a clean place to put your shoes on in the middle of the night, or in the morning. It is lightweight and waterproof. I'm getting two more for other purposes, one of which will be to cover the top of my portable canopy that always leaks in heavy rains.
