Rated 4 out of 5 by migetmenace wind and rain
We live in the desrt and the wind is a bigger issue than rain. This jacket is good for both. We get 40+ winds and the occasional down poor. My daughter has been using this jacket for over a year, yes its a little noisy at first but that goes away with wear. She has backpacked with it in Canyonlands, Rocky Mountain nat. park, Mesa verde, silverton and the Sandia mountains as well as wearing it as a layer to school all winter. I will be getting one for my self as she won't let me borrow it.

Bought this for my Boy Scout son. Definitely waterproof, love the reflective accents, love how it folds up into its own pocket. Very much dislike the poor ventilation. Pit zips would be nice, a back vent, or even underarm grommets would help. For older kids who sweat humping a backpack up a trail on a rainy day, some underarm or back vents really are necessary, otherwise they'd rip it off in order to get some air. This is really the only downfall of the jacket - but it's a big one IMHO.

Rated 4 out of 5 by OnlyBuysTheBest Great rain jacket, stop snowing already
I am very happy with the quality of this rain jacket. I read a lot of reviews before spending my money on this and yes, it is a bit noisy, not a biggie tho. The size was bang on I'd day. I read reviews that said it was huge so I went a size down, thinking it would have been good but unfortunatley it is true to size in my opinion. That being said I will keep the jacket and have to buy a bigger one in 2 years. Over all very happy (as usual) with my LLBean purchaces. Thanks so much for making great products.

I usually buy the Casco Bay rain jackets for my kids but decided not to because they changed the material. I will be returning this rain coat I tried, it is thinner then paper and is noisy noisy noisy. My daughter who is 5 noticed a big difference too just trying it on and told me she didn't like it.

Nancela67 High Quality Packable Raingear
This is exactly what it says it is, a "trail model" rain jacket. It has the same type of fabric as similar adult packable raingear, which can feel a bit plasticky over bare skin, but that's just how it is. I've found these to be true-to-size and I've bought lots of kids' raingear over the years. I find these more durable, attractive and full-featured than the other brands I've bought. They pack down nicely, a plus for backpacking, hiking and canoe camping. I noticed some comments about them being too large and having long sleeves, but that is so they can be layered over a heavyweight fleece. There were other comments about them being "hot" but they're not hotter than any other waterproof clothing, and much cooler than plastic rain slickers.
I find these to be very good quality rain jackets at a reasonable price. I'd buy more but my younger son gets them handed down from my older son and my older son is about to spring into adult sizes.

Please make the woman's styles fun like these! Lots of color choices in the long lengths with and without the fleece lining. Also in the redesign, make the sleeves quilted nylon covered fleece so the jacket slides on easier....Just small changes to an already awesome jacket!!

Great style and fit. We bought one size larger and it seems to be perfect. A little roomy, but not too big. We got the matching pants so my son can use the set on rainy camping trips.

I love the jacket! The fit is great however the lining is plastic and he wouldn't wear it for long. He became hot and wet after a short time. Great for cold rainy weather not so much for summer rains.

Rated 3 out of 5 by BostonMom Love style ... but too big, too hot!
Loved this style and couldn't wait to get it. It is gorgeous even in person. However, it's going back. The waterproof lining is either too plastic-y or simply lacks a breathable mesh lining to make it breathable. In any case, WAY too hot ... it was too hot in A/C house, would not fly for a summer rain shower. As for size, I could fit into the 10/12. Sure it was too small but I got it on and zipped ... and I'm 5'8" 140!! I called for product measurements and my 99% 7 year old would have been swimming even in the size 8. Sleeves were particularly long ... 26 1/2" even on the 8. Maybe they'll modify a bit based on feedback. Certainly great for kids in colder climate or with long arms. So cute!!

This jacket is very nice, great quality! The fabric layers are a little stiff though, so when your child is growing into it (because of the the sizing I ordered a 10-12, and she is really around a 10, so the jacket is currently kind of big) the extra bulk combines with the stiffish material to make the jacket a bit uncomfortable. I bought it for my daughter to take to camp, but she won't really wear it otherwise, like to school on rain days, etc. It IS a rain jacket, and at some point you are choosing between a quality, durable waterproof material vs light and comfortable. I think I am going to order the Discovery as my next jacket and test the weight/durability/waterproofness on that as she is rarely actually out in the rain for that long at a time.
