They seem to have a coating on them that is almost plasticky. BUT.... ours are brand new and have only been washed once. I think that with multiple washings, they will soften up. My husband loves them. He thinks they feel crisp. April 17, 2013

They are crisp and cool and you'll like them if that's what you've been seeking. When I first got them I was concerned because it felt like they were coated, which they could have been. However after a few washes, I love them. Yes, a bit wrinkled but I'd rather have wrinkles and cool sheets than unwrinkled and limp sheets!. thanks from bringing these back. January 12, 2013

I love that the colors you see on the LLBean website are the colors you'll see when you open your package...from bedding to backpacks. I shop online frequently and that isn't often the case. They are beautiful to look at but my husband and I have found them uncomfortable to sleep on, especially in warm, humid conditions. They have an unusual finish, which others have described as "crisp" but which feels more like a plastic coating to me. They do not "breathe." Even after numerous uses and washings, they have not significantly softened up as I would expect from 100% cotton percale. July 10, 2011
