Rated 5 out of 5 by Roughrider Premium Denim Dog Bed
We have purchased 5 of these, 2 replacement inserts, and have 2 complete beds on order again. For us the covers seem to be lasting about 6 years and the inserts about 3 years. This is with 2-3 huskies having their choice of 4 of these beds available in different locations in our garage. We also have 1 for use in the Suv on longer trips and in the tent when car camping with the dogs. If one improvement could be made it might be some kind of moisture proof liner over the insert to protect it from a wet dog and also to minimize odor transfer and retention. These are the best dog beds I have ever seen and it is a bonus to be able to order replacement covers and inserts.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MommaPam Not Tear Resistant
I have searched endlessly for a tear resistant dog bed for years. I have purchased two of these beds and they have lasted about two years at best. They are not tear resistant though since my 7 year old beagle seems to figure out how to make a small tear and then completely destroy these beds. LL Bean has been kind enough to provide a refund, but I really wish they would last for than a couple years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Fiskie Great Bed, But Mediocre Design
This is truly a great dog bed. We switched our aging pooch to this when he began to snore (he sleeps in our bedroom). It is soft, but also firm, just right.
Our only complaint is one of design. My wife washes the denim cover almost weekly. Getting the foam insert into the cover with a limited-sized opening requires a Paul Bunyan physique. Foam and denim do not slide well against one another, and the pad is cut to fit the cover very tightly. After struggling with this multiple times, we finally cut the foam pad down by 4 inches. It works pretty easily now.
However, the fit is not as tight now. My suggestion for the next iteration of this bed would be to increase the zipper length so that it carries at least halfway down either side, maybe more. In fact, it would be nice if you could just lay the pad into a cover half and let the zipper do the work of making a tight fit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by AyKayEs These new colors are ugly and boring
I have several of these beds for my dog---she has a round one in the living room, and the premium rectangular one in my office, and the therapeutic memory foam couch in our bedroom. She loves them. They all have beautiful navy zip-off covers that coordinate with our decor, as well. She's getting a little older, and she no longer likes to curl up as much when she sleeps and has been stretching out more, so now the medium beds don't really fit my medium-sized dog. So I thought I'd just order new beds, this time in large. (I also needed an extra one for my attached porch, which I'm enclosing for comfortable, year-round use.) Well, unfortunately the pretty blue color isn't available any more and now there are only boring, ugly earth tones that would clash or stick out in the worst way with every room in my house. These are high-quality beds and I love buying from LL Bean, but I don't want these ugly colors in my home, and I can get quality beds in better colors elsewhere. Not everyone likes beiges and olives and brownish rusts, LL Bean! If you offered these in any shade of blue, or a red, or even white or teal or plum or a pale buttercream yellow or mint or sea foam green, then I'd buy four right now. Instead, I'll buy supportive, comfortable beds that are also attractive, but I'll have to get them from a different retailer.

The very best dog bed ever. My Great Danes are lost when their beds are airing out and covers washing. Second set of Danes sleeping on the same beds.

I was anticipating needing to lure our schnauzer/poodle onto her new bed. No need to worry. She began wagging her tail as I was taking it out of the box and, after the cover was put on, settled in for the next few hours. I'm happy to have a cover I can wash and a bed she loves.

Our dog took to this bed immediately! The cover is so soft & comfy. Just 2 days ago doggy got sick on the this bed. Immediately I cleaned off the solid stuff & took the cover off, walked over to the sink, and using some dish soap (which works best on food mishaps) & water, it cleaned right up. After a thorough rinsing, I put the cover in the dryer on low & 30 minutes later it was back on his bed....good as new!!! Thank you LLBean for another GREAT product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by texashayseed Cat Bed Too
This is my second dog bed from ll bean, not enough room for all the dogs and cats that are fighting over it. Im not sure if it is the bed or the ll bean dog blanket that I put on top, but my cats stick to this thing like velcro. They only get off of it to eat and then they are right back on it. The blankets are exactly sized to fit the beds so I have to medium beds, two medium blankets (which are more like mats). The blankets protect the bed and are washable which is great on muddy days. These beds are well worth the money and color choices also great. The blue is true blue jean denim blue and the burlap is a nice olive shade that blends well in my earth tone living room. Thanks LL Bean, another great item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DogBedFan Great purchase for our chewer!
Our new pup ate 3-1/2 beds in as many months, but I wasn't quite ready to fork over $$$ for an indestructible bed made of teflon or ballistic nylon. I decided to try this bed out and about two months later and I'm ordering a second one for our other dog (who claims the first one for himself several times a day).
Both hounds (lab-mixes) definitely could chew this bed up if they decided to, but they don't seem interested. My theory is that the smooth fabric isn't as tempting as the fuzzy/plush-covered egg crate mattresses we had before.
