Rated 4 out of 5 by CPS0911 Perfect medium and nice heavy wool
I got rid of a great wool sweater a few years ago because it had a crew neck, and would get uncomfortable because of the eventual strangulation factor. This henley commando sweater is great because you can unbutton it a quarter of the way down, or button it all the way up on those cold days (and no zipper to fail or scratch your face). The medium is a perfect size for me (39 R jacket, 31 inch waist, 5'9", 155 lbs), and will fit over a button down or long sleeve t-shirt, and will fit under my field jacket. My only complaint is that the sweater is a little scratchy, but I wanted warmth much more than total comfort. With the henley collar, the fit, and the quality, I am willing to forgive a little scratchiness.

I ordered the Henley Commando Sweaters in two different colors based on the excellent review by other customers. I don't regret the purchase for a second.
These sweaters are high quality and look great. They are warm and fit well. Several people have complimented me on the sweater. Before long, I'll be buying some in other colors, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SuburbanClassics Really warm, stylish
I love this sweater. It is very warm and I particularly like the elbow patches and other styling accents. I still struggle with the fit of some LL Bean clothes. At 6'2" and 180 lbs I should be large-tall. While LL Bean button down shirts fit great, their sweaters are great for arm length, but generally seem to be too long in the body. After trying several sizes of this sweater I finally settled on a large. I will wear this one as more of an insulating layer over a long sleeve base shirt. I have been wearing this as a layer for hunting and shooting. I will probably purchase an extra large next year to give me something a little roomier to wear to work over a collared shirt. I continue to be extremely satisfied with the service from LL Bean. All exchanges and returns are handled promptly.

Out of the box, I was a bit surprised at the weight of the sweater, which is a good thing. It is incredibly warm. The fit is fantastic. I am 6 foot and weigh 185 lbs. I purchased the Briar Heather which is tan, and it looks great with a pair of jeans. It also looks great with a shirt underneath and would even look great with a shirt and tie. Did I say it was really warm? A great look, quite functional, and it's a welcomed winter time addition to the wardrobe. Just buy it, don't think about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 Comando sweater
I like wool. This is a different style of wool sweater for me, one who loves Shetland wool crew necks and v necks. When I saw it in hunting catalog and showed it to my wife, she liked it too. In a few days it was at my door and it fit great, feels great and I have worn it many times and will continue to wear it a lot. I especially like the pads under my elbow, for many of my swearers wear out because I drive a lot and keep my arms on the arm rests.
I do not hunt any more but I sure will wear it fishing in the spring and fall.

From the moment I took the Commando sweater out of the package, I instantly recognized the quality of the material and couldn't wait to try it on. It did not disappoint. The fabric was top quality and it looked fantastic! I would highly recommend this sweater to any customer considering buying a warm, stylish and quality piece of clothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Blest1 My New Favorite Sweater
I bought this to replace a wool sweater of similar style and color that I had been issued in the Navy. I really loved the old one, but it had developed a hole and was getting thin and saggy. I was a bit worried about the color (Deep Woods Green Heather) based on another review. The one I received is a mixture of green, brown, and red fibers, but the composite impression to the eye is an attractive dark green. I just returned from a trip to Alaska where the temperatures ranged from 0 to 16F. I ended up wearing this sweater most days over a dress shirt as a layer. The material weight is dense but not too bulky, and fits well. I was comfortable leaving it on indoors; instead of overheating, it provides a gentle warmth that, along with the snug fit, envelopes you in a "warm hug" that you'll crave. I like the fabric "wear pads" that protect the shoulders, and not just the elbows but the forearms too. No static cling or shock problems. I always worry about sweaters pilling, but this one seems to be holding up very well. No regrets over losing my old submarine sweater; this is my new favorite sweater!
