Thank you to all the previous reviewers who helped provide so much information and context around sizing. I would have definitely ordered the wrong size without you!
To pay it forward - I normally wear a size 10, and I have somewhat wide feet. I try to get 10w when I can because otherwise some brands are too narrow. I can fit 9.5 if they are wide, sometimes, depending on the brand.
In this shoe, I ordered the 9. They fit PERFECTLY. They're comfortably but not overly roomy with thin athletic socks, and thicker wool winter socks would fit without any problem. Nice and versatile. The lining is just heavenly and so soft. I was concerned the boots would be heavy, but they are no heavier than any other good winter boot that I own.
I've been coveting a pair of these boots for literally years and finally made the jump. I was really nervous that I would end up with the wrong size, and I'm just thrilled that they fit and are everything I'd hoped they'd be. I literally squealed.

My un-insulated Bean Boots are my go-to boots for rainy wet weather. I had 5 pairs of nearly brand-new polyurethane-soled winter & hiking boots disintegrate just from sitting in the closet over the summer (do a search for pictures on the web if you don't believe me). I needed something made of rubber that was going to last. Silly me! Bean Boots, of course!!! These are very well made. As I find with all Bean shoes, they run big. I have a wide foot and normally wear a 7 1/2, but even with heavy socks a 7 is roomy, and the 8 was way too big. They are made so you can fold the top down & lace it to show the inside lining, or you can lace all the way up. Order early, it can take several month to get them, but it's worth the wait.

These boots are great! I'm a dogwalker in Boston so warm and dry shoes are crucial for my 10-15 mile days in the winter. I originally ordered these in September and they were backordered until February, but then I went to one of the outlets and found them in my size and for a little cheaper in October! These boots have been a lifesaver! The shearling lining keeps you so warm. I broke mine in pretty quickly with how much I walk and I'm so impressed with how sturdy they are and how comfortable they are, they're more comfortable than any other boot! I've gone through puddles and slush and haven't had an issue with wet feet, you just have to lace them well. The laces that came with them are a little on the short side for my taste but I just bought a longer pair of laces and put them in and problem solved. Great boots, they've held up so well! I definitely recommend!

Just got my boots tonight, after placing an order 4 months ago....and they are totally worth the wait!
They fit great even though one of my feet is a 1/2 size bigger...and although the shearling does not go all the way to my toes, they are well insulated with a nice comfy insert.
.....the only problem is that its almost spring...and there's no snow left to try my boots in......hahaha!

I am a recent transplant to Maine and although it's been an overall mild winter, we have had some record breaking cold temperatures. These boots run large (I am a size 5-5 1/2) and bought a size 6, their smallest size, and found the boots to be comfortable when wearing wool socks. I am very active and these boots have kept my feet warm while walking my dog, hiking or snowshoeing. If I am standing still for a long period of time, for example, at the dog park, my feet do start to feel the cold, not a biting sting of cold, but start to feel the cold. When it is slushy, the dampness will creep in. I've not experienced them getting wet inside but I imagine that could happen. These boots are best for cold, snowy weather but not wet and slushy weather. Wear your jeans over the laces or wear gaiters to keep out the snow. Although they are not waterproof, these have been my favorite boots of the season. They look good and were comfortable right from the first wear.

My original order, I followed the ordering instructions and ordered an 8 since I usually wear an 8 or 8.5 depending on the brand. When they came, I thought they would be ok for winter with extra socks on but I couldn't get comfortable when walking in them and the tall part felt like it was bunching a ton in the back when I walked. So I exchanged them for a 7 and fit like a glove with regular thickness Under Armour socks. The width feels normal (ordered M) and comparable to my other shoes. If I would have ordered the fuzzy sole insert as well, the original 8 that I ordered prob would have still been too big. Glad these came since our Ohio winter just hit within the last few weeks. Def worth the wait!

I ended up snagging a pair of these boots in the dark cranberry color & they were shipped to me with in the week. I am really happy with the boot - it does seem to run big to me. I wear a 6.5 usually and got the size 6. There is plenty of room for me to wear thick socks & lots of room at the toe.
The leather is pretty stiff right now, but I know that with time/wear it will become softer.
This boot provides warmth, traction & dry feet!!

Long time Bean-lover here. I have a pair of pretty aggressive winter Bean boots I've had for years and an uninsulated pair of duck shoes and wanted something in between. These hit the mark perfectly. Warm, waterproof, but not clunky. They look good over a skinny jean, but are streamlined enough to fit over a boot cut or trouser leg pant without bunching. I split my time between the western NY snow belt and DC, and I walk a lot when I'm in DC...super comfortable for putting some miles on. They are proving to be exactly what I was hoping for in versatile every-day winter footwear. Note: normally size 9, duck shoes are 7-wide, these are 8 and perfect (room for a chunky sock, but not sloppy with a normal weight sock).

I am a boot freak and own many different styles for all occasions.
These boots are the best I've ever owned for the cold weather and snow. I can be out for a long time without feeling cold. They feel great and are slip resistant. I recommend them for anyone that wants a high quality boot that works hard and looks good too.
