Rated 5 out of 5 by syavorsk Most practical purchase I've made
Buying a pair for my sister before they sell out for the winter and felt like I should review while I'm here. I have had my shearling lined Bean Boots for 3 winters now, and I have to say they have been a complete lifesaver. From the frigid winters here in New York, to the 6+ feet of snow in Massachusetts, to skiing in Colorado and Vermont, they have come in handy all winter and I wouldn't buy another brand.
If there is ONE regret I have about these boots, it's that I should've ordered a size smaller. I'm usually between a 6.5-7, and I bought a 7. My feet feel really clunky in them and there's definitely a lot of room in the foot (even with thick wool socks on), so in hindsight I should've gotten a size 6, but these are still great. My sister is a 7.5 and I'm ordering her a size 7 also. So if you're contemplating what size to get, I would say size down for sure!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by mollpre amazing for 2 winters
These boots are amazing. I was so happy to save all my pennies for these boots. I bought them 2 winters ago. For 2 winter seasons my feet were so toasty. I was even able to wear them without socks! However, this year, they have not been warm at all! I am now wearing 2 pairs of socks and toe warmers with these boots!
I think if I just buy new sole inserts, they will be as good as new. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NSBeangirl So good I had to review them twice
I bought these last winter and reviewed them at that time, a positive review. I wanted to write again because we've had a really horrid winter in Nova Scotia this year - snow, freezing rain, rain, then flash freezing. These boots are waterproof and great in the cold and snow and slush and water. I love them. I'm go glad I bought them. Worth the price!
And they look really cool.
I saw a woman the other day who was wearing the same boots. We didn't know each other, but we smiled knowingly because we knew we had the best boots in town.

Rated 5 out of 5 by resourcefuldesign So worth the wait! Best boots ever!
Best boots ever! I wear a size 6-6.5 and have a narrow foot. I bought these in a 6 narrow (received them last may) and they are PERFECT. I have worn them everyday since November. No break in and super comfortable. They're perfect for commuting in the cold but aren't the best for standing outside in 10 degree temperature for long periods of time . As long as you are moving, they're the best. And they look really nice. The dark brown leather is beautiful. I can't say enough good things about these boots. No cold weather boots ever fit me. They are always way too wide. Until now. These are really perfect. Yay! So worth waiting for.

I would never have gotten these for myself because of the price but my son got them for me last Xmas. I needed an 11wide that wasn't in stock and had to be made . Winter was over before they came. At first, when I put them on I didn't like them as they were so heavy and stiff it was an effort to walk. Our Philadelphia Winter has been awful this year with either snow, sleet, rain or slush. I started wearing them and guess I have broken them in as the stiffness and weight doesn't bother me now. They have been a God send for this terrible Winter. They have kept my feet warm, no water gets inside and I'm sure they have prevented me from slipping many times. I have always had cheap boots but they weren't waterproof nor did they keep me warm. These books are quite expensive but you get what you pay for and these boots are well worth it! You won't be disappointed.

I've been wearing these boots now for about a month and just love them. They're comfortable, warm and well-constructed. While I was surprised at how long it took to get them, I have to commend L.L. Bean for continuing to produce them in the US. This was something that appealed to me about them and prevented me from trying a comparably priced pair of Uggs boots that had a similar design. So far these boots have slogged through heavy wet snow and kept me from slipping on icy sidewalks and though they're perhaps not the most fashionable thing, I find myself looking forward to wearing them.

Bought these in black last winter. Using the shearling inserts and they keep my feet warm and I'm always cold. Asked LLBean to add lacing hooks, so they are super easy to get on and off. If you want longer laces, LLBean sells 64 inch laces. Comfortable to walk in all day long. If I'm just standing in deep snow and it's below 20 degrees, I get a little cold if not moving around. But that's what the Wildcat boots are for. Wildcat boots are too warm for 20-30 degree weather. They seem like they'll last a long time. Get compliments on them all the time. I never write reviews but wanted to share how much I love these and address the complaints of warmth, ease of lacing, and lace length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AmyMac Best boots I have ever owned!
I live in Australia and I know it isn't extremely cold here in winter however my feet have another impression (feels like I have them on ice all winter!).
These are the first 'serious' winter boots I have bought and I am so happy I got them!
I looked at many other brands and styles, but the Narrow width and Made in Maine were the deciding factors.
I am looking forward to getting them out again in a couple of months... comfortable, warm feet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ColoradoTiger My favorite winter purchase
I love these boots. I moved from the South to Colorado and have been stunned at the number of things one must purchase to survive in snow, good boots being of paramount importance. I bought these at the suggestion of my brother and have not been disappointed. They are perfect for high snow but also for all the water and mud that come with melting snow -- as an East Coaster, I think that might be the only time I see real lakes here!
The boots are warm but I definitely recommend the shearling insoles or your feet will get cold through the bottom. Also, the leather takes a little while to break in and lose its stiffness. You can speed the process with the LL Bean Boot Guard conditioner to make the leather soft & flexible.
Even though they were stiff at first, the boots have been comfortable from the beginning. It feels almost like I'm wearing good bedroom shoes! I love them so much that I'm often loath to take them off and put on "real" shoes when I get to work.
I normally wear an 8 in dress shoes and an 8.5 in athletic shoes, but I ended up with the 7 for these and they fit great. Once I put the shearling insoles in, the fit was a smidge tight for really thick socks. That's ok, because I have the cabled smartwool socks that the guy at Bean recommended, and they are just fine.
If you have a Bean store near you, I absolutely recommend going in to try the boots on #and take the socks you plan to wear!# instead of just taking your best stab at sizing online. If you have to order online, definitely call or online chat with Bean customer service beforehand about your feet and how shoes normally fit you.
These boots are on the expensive side, but with LL Bean's workmanship, customer service, and lifetime guarantee, I can't imagine finding a better deal with other brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 10ColdToes Warm, dry, tall, Comfortable White Bean Boots
I ordered these in white with Shearling lining. I have worn them in below zero temps on multiple occasions and my feet stayed warm and dry. I have Raynaud's so have to be very careful not to let my feet get cold. I'm also a Hospice nurse and need to get out in all sorts of weather to get to my patients when they need me. I can shovel my driveway, knock off the snow, drive in them and go into houses without worrying about tracking in a bunch of debris. I love these - they are perfect for me & I highly recommend them!!!
