Rated 5 out of 5 by Cornflakes Worlds best snow and cold weather boots!
I am a boot freak and own many different styles for all occasions.
These boots are the best I've ever owned for the cold weather and snow. I can be out for a long time without feeling cold. They feel great and are slip resistant. I recommend them for anyone that wants a high quality boot that works hard and looks good too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mifflin Comfortable and as great as I expected!
I live in St John's Newfoundland a city known for its beauty, its history and music, but also its steep hills, fog, snow, slush and lack-luster snow clearing. I was after boots that could deal with all of that, particularly the combination of hills and damp snow. These boots are perfect. They have good traction, keep my feet dry and are both warm but also spacious enough to fit a couple pairs of sox. I was a bit worried that the shearling didn't go all the way down around the foot, but my feet are plenty warm in extra sox and I prefer that to a wider fit. For Atlantic Canada (or New England where I'm originally from) I would say these great.
Also for folks living in Atlantic Canada: Products like this from Bean that are made in New England aren't subject to duty because of the regional trade deal. It's good for folks in Maine and its good for us. Yay regional solidarity!
One thing to know: You do need to break them in a bit. The first time I wore them I got an ankle blister like from any other new boot. I had worn them for 4+ miles around town up and down hills before that happened but just an FYI. After a few more wearings they were fine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by NordicShopper Everything is great...except not waterproof
I bought these boots in October and loved wearing them until early December, whether out in town, hiking, or walking my dog. Then the weather gods appeared, and brought the slush and snow with them. And I discovered these boots, due to the tongue not attaching all the way up the boot, are a sieve for water. After every outing in these boots, if I walked in a slush puddle over 3" deep (which, let's be honest, is common in winter in the north) or in snow, I had wet feet. Which is exactly what you don't want in a winter boot. When I called L.L. Bean the agent I spoke with explained these boots were never intended to be waterproof. And so while L.L. Bean was generous about accepting a return of a used boot, it would be infinitely better if they attached the tongue to the boot to make these truly a utility-player winter boot for those of us who expect winter boots to keep our feet dry.

by Odile1 Love these boots!!
I'm a northeast transplant to NC, several years on by now, and while NC doesn't get loads of snow, mostly ice, I still needed some good boots. Bought these over the summer and finally got to test them out today on a 4-mile walk through hard packed snow and ice. Mostly ice. These boots kept me completely dry and toasty and were totally comfortable and supportive for a long walk right off the bat! I haven't been this excited for snow or snow boots since my rainbow moon boots circa 1982. Thank you, LL Bean!

Rated 1 out of 5 by MaryZB I really wanted to love these boots
I did. I ordered them awhile ago and waited while they were backordered. When these boots arrived, about a month ago, they just didn't seem like the quality LL Bean boots I expected. I own a pair of shorter, unlined boots like these and they are great. Until now, we haven't had snow and I held onto these boots thinking I could convince myself they were fine. However, I just cannot reconcile the poor quality with the $200 price tag. The way these boots were shipped was the first red flag- just sitting in a shipping box (as in, not in a shoe box inside of a shipping box) protected by one piece of paper. Upon looking at the boots, I noticed blobs of glue showing where the leather meets the rubber. The stitching on one boot looked as if a sewing machine needle had gotten stuck and kept stitching in the same spot over and over. The rubber on one boot was rubbed off in numerous spots that looked worn and not shiny like the rest of the boot. And - the issue I find most baffling - why wouldn't LL Bean line the ENTIRE boot in shearling? Sure, it may look cool to flip down the tongue of the boot to expose the shearling lining (as demonstrated on an instruction card placed inside of the shipping box), but seriously. My feet get cold! Who complains only of cold ankles? LL Bean should take a page from Uggs' playbook - line the whole boot! Had to send them back. Just too expensive to be so disappointing.

by ImDowntown Well worth the money and then some!
I ordered these boots in July because I wanted to be well-prepared for southwestern VA weather. Today was the first day I have worn them. I took a 3 mile hike in 8 inches of snow, which continues to fall, by the way. My feet stayed warm and dry - absolutely no complaints!! And yes, they are waterproof. This is my second pair of Bean boots - the first, purchased at least 20 years ago, were unlined and no where near as warm as these. If you live in a snowy or cold area, you will not be disappointed if you purchase these boots! For reference, I normally wear a size 91/2 to a 10; ordered these in a size 9 and they fit beautifully with light-weight socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nutmeg63 Worth every penny!
I have Raynaulds and for me finding boots that keep my feet warm no matter the temperature is extremely difficult. These boots I bought big planning to have to wear multiple pairs of socks but have yet to need more than 1 pair of socks and I live in New England! I even spent an hour standing in line outside in 30? F temperatures and my feet didn't get the slightest bit cold! Will never buy another type of winter boot again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by DWMinVA Great boot, Size Runs Big!
Sizing: I typically wear a women's 7 1/2 wide. I find LL Bean boots run big. I wear a 7 in Storm Chasers. But I decided to follow the sizing advice, and ordered a size 8, because I planned to wear them with heavy sox. (Red, whenever possible). We finally got our first snow of the season, and when I actually wore them for shoveling, they were HUGE. I actually thought I may have ordered a men's 8 instead of a women's.
That being said, I LOVE THESE BOOTS! I wore them for shoveling very wet very slushy snow with deep puddles. The temperature outside was fairly mild, about 32 degrees. My feet stayed very warm and very dry, and the boots were comfortable, despite all the extra length. I was slogging around in 3" slush puddles in the driveway, and through a couple of inches of mushy wet snow with mud underneath in the goat pasture, and the boots did great. ....I'm going to get a smaller size - 7 wide. I probably could wear a 7 medium, but I like lost of room for my toes to spread out. Can't wait for them to get here. It's worth the back order wait.

I moved to Michigan for college, and I decided to invest in these boots. They're so cute and they seemed warm!
Wearing them in 14 degree weather, they aren't that warm. My toes are cold walking through snow and being outside for 10 minutes. Even with wool socks.
Im a size 8 and got size 8, my feet still fit great with or without thick socks! I still love these boots, they are great in terms of water and snow, but not so much the cold.
