I loved these boots from the moment I took them out of the box. They fit great and great support. But.. They keep falling apart. LL bean is great replacing them quickly at no charge but I spent the extra dollars because I was tired of buying shoes at the big box store that only lasted 6 months. I am now waiting for pair #4 to be delivered. This pair lasted exactly 3 months before the sole separated from the shoe. The cheap shoes would at least last 6 months.

I usually wear shoes and boots in size 7 and 1/2. After reading all the reviews, I decided to order size 7. And it was the right choice. The boots allow a thick sock. Though, I do not need it for spring time, I wear good substantial cotton socks with these boots. I would recommend these boots to people who value comfort while walking. I do not have to go hunting nor mountaineering like some ladies describe in their reviews. But my feet feel very warm, cozy, and comfortable during dog walking three times a day around the town. I would advise women to buy winter and fall/spring boots from LL Bean's. It was my first cold season in the North. I compared wearing boots from the department store with wearing boots from LL Beans. I am reporting to you the result: Never in my entire life did my feet feel so warm and comfortable as they did during 2012-2013 cold seasons in LL Bean boots (thank you to the company). I must also ad that years ago I bought lots of tops from this company; I used them and abused them, and they are still "well and alive" and I am still wearing them all. Hope, years after today I will be able to write same words about the way LL Beans footwear lasts. I really hope for that.
4 stars instead of 5 for I had to exchange my first pair of boots for they had knots on the sole stitches and within that pair of size 7 both, one boot had a shorter sole....

savvygal Great boot, instantly comfy, scuffs fairly easily
It's true: these boots require zero breaking in. I wear a 9.5 normally and chose the 9 as I rarely wear thick socks. It may be a tiny bit short, but a bigger size would have been too big. I wore them hiking recently (seen here) with a medium weight merino sock. This was the first time I had worn these boots at length, and I had NO problems! My one complaint is that they do scuff fairly easily--as in, when you kick the hunks of snow off your tires. For hunting or hiking--who cares? I did plan, however, to wear them with skinny jeans and cord skirts for a quirky look. It might have worked, but now with the scuffs, I'm afraid it would just look sloppy. So they will sheerly be outdoor boots, but hey, I think that was the idea in the first place.

I was looking for a nice hiking boot. So far I have done a 5k hike first time out. These are very comfy boot. I take a size 8 and have a wider foot. The size I found was just a bit larger. However I was able to put in my orthotic insert and a medium sock and the fit was perfect.
Looking forward to many k's of great walks in these boots. I contacted LLBean to get the correct product to put on them. I was guided to the best product for the boot.
Thank You

Rated 5 out of 5 by SpoiledBirdDog Great multi-purpose multi-season boot!
Ordered these boots last year for upland hunting in WI and put them through a lot of daily abuse. Boots pack value for the price!
Sturdy ankle support is great for grouse hunting in hilly, rough terrain of Chequamegon-Nicolet Forest. Leather stands up to thorny brush that tears through most everything else. 100% waterproof and solid traction, even in 6" of water & mud. Lightweight materials are breathable with supportive sole and I find them comfortable for daily kennel chores. Clean up easily with a hose & a coat of mink oil makes the leather look like new again. I think they are stylish enough to wear at hunt club or in town.
With a good wool sock, boots are warm enough for a few inches of snow & mildly freezing temps.
Size runs a little big, but not wide. I have a narrow 7.5 foot and the 7 is perfect, even with a wool sock. Tried & returned the "too big" 8. Thought about buying a second pair, but I think these will last for years!

I've had this pair for about 5 years now. Wear them woods walking when its wet. To hunt tests and working certificates. And in the winter, I run agility in them. They are light weight, lighter than some of the trail sneakers/low hiking boots. They are waterproof. They are comfortable year round! I'm an 8 /12 the 8 fits great. and I see they are on sale so I'm getting a second pair!!! Yeah, the toe scuffs up a bit, but they look fine.

Excellent, bought one size larger than needed thinking wool socks, but LL Bean already considered that so Order your shoe size. Hiked in Pa and walked NYC in slush Complimented everywhere I went They are the best boots I ever purchased. Grandma always said, "the dearest was always the cheapest". Of course, she was right but so was the price of this fabulous boots. Thank you LL Bean. Plus Made in America doesn't get any better than this.

In reading the reviews, I ended up ordering the boots in a size 8 and a size 9. I have a size 8.5 medium foot. The 8 were too short and the 9 too big even with a thicker sock on. I returned both pairs of boots and wish they came in half sizes. If they did, I'd be wearing them right now. Great boot for the price. Maybe next year they'll be available in half sizes.

I love the construction and quality of these boots .... they are just what I am looking for, except for the size! I normally wear an 8.5 and since these boots don't come in half sizes I ordered a size 9. It was just too long so my heel was slipping. I'm reluctant to order the size 8 because I think it will be too small. LL Bean please offer this boot in half sizes...

Rated 5 out of 5 by skim Great Boot but a bit bulky
First off I live in the city, we get snow and rain, and everything in between. I thought they were great price for Gore-Tex and they looked super cute. When I got them I was a bit disappointed that they are more bulky looking in real life then the picture makes them look. They are more like hiking boots, which I guess is really their function. I also made the mistake of ordering down a size, because of my previous experience with ordering my "Bean Boots" too big. In the end I exchanged them which cost me 9$ from Canada and then bought the "Shearling Insole" in order to have the 8's fit and keep me warm. (I am normally a 7.5) I really wish Bean made half sizes in their boots, the 7 were way too small but the 8's fit great with an insole but my heals still slip around, I do have skinny ankles though.
In the end I am super happy with them, they are incredibly light weight and comfortable. The top part never gave me blisters or rubbed against my calfs as another customer had said, they actually felt like I had already worn them, so no breaking in needed. The leather scratches easily but in time will add to the "look". I'm awaiting some snow to give me an idea of how they work in the wet stuff, but I love that the tongue of the boot is fully attached at the sides therefore not allowing any bits of water to sneak in. Something else that also made me happy was that they use "Vibram" soles. Great quality materials!
