Rated 4 out of 5áby MagicalFruit It seems sturdy enough
I haven't had to use it in an emergency yet, so this is an incomplete review. It snaps together well and seems sturdy enough. It's short -- I wouldn't want to use it except for an emergency. The case is good. I've tossed it in my car and with luck I'll never see it again.

I bought this shovel for my grandson to take on scouting trips, for example to make snow caves. It broke the first time he used it.

Rated 5 out of 5áby outdoorb So many uses!
OK. So my shovel doesn't stay in the car all of the time. It is great for emergency use and I love that it has a case, but I use it mostly for winter camping. It is the best shovel for digging out the inside of a quinzee. The slight curve makes it great for shaping the inside and scraping at compacted snow. The varying handle sizing helps it work in tight spaces and in normal spaces. The handle works well for creating and air hole. Love it, love it, love it! This is my third shovel...one for each family member who loves to play in the snow...

We are not in mid winter yet, but these are sturdy and handy shovels. They are easily stowed in the car.

Rated 4 out of 5 Good but bad
Great little shovel. Strong and pretty compact. The down side is that the pieces don't interlock for better storage. The case takes up space that can be better used for other items.

Rated 3 out of 5áby Diverreb Decent For The Price... Has Limitations.
Ordered this shovel along with Black Diamond. The Black Diamond is notably stronger in design and materials. Both will work for light powder and fresh wet snow. The Black Diamond is a bit beefier and the tube design is stronger and better able to handle the tougher jobs. Neither is designed to pry and chop into heavy icy type situations. They are small enough that both fit into the pouch that comes with the Sport Utility Shovel, so I carry both of them. That way in case one does break I have the other as back up. I use the Sport Utility first and if that fails I go to the Black Diamond. If you are only getting one, spend the extra bucks on this one. It's worth it.

Rated 3 out of 5áby WelshTerrierFan Rather flimsy !
It might work here in Texas where we have very limited snow, however; I would not recommend it for heavy snow or ice. It is in a very nice case. I thought the shovel part was metal instead it is plastic. We will try it when we need it, hopefully; we won't need it anytime soon.

Rated 5 out of 5áby hikerb Beautiful and Functional
I love that such a utilitarian product also comes in a beautiful case. We carry these in our cars and it is nice that the shovel is protected and our children are protected from the sharp edges.
We also have used this shovel to dig out quinzes and make other snow shelters.
Fun and functional; neat and tidy. I have other shovels from other places that also work fine...wish I had the option of buying just the case as well. For now, LLBean is in the trunk and the others are kept in the shed.
