by Eyelini Perfect winter coat!
I needed to buy this to replace a down coat (from a competitor) that had ripped mid-season. Searched online and found this one. Although my first choice of purple was sold out, I chose the Spruce color, which is beautiful. I love the details such as the storm flap covering the zipper and the inside zippered pocket. Pockets are deep enough to hold my gloves. Some people complained that this is a bit boxy, but hey, it's a coat...it's all about function and not as much about fashion! I'd rather be warm in this coat and wear my fitted, stylish clothes underneath. My only complaint is the Velcro flaps on the hood; they kind of get in the way, but when I close them, they provide a windproof seal. This coat will be worn almost every day! I'm 5'0" and 120 lbs. and the Petite XS is roomy enough to fit over my business suits and heavy sweaters. The length is just above my ankles, which is perfect; I love my coats to be long enough to cover my snow boots to block out as much cold weather and wind as possible. If this is offered next year in purple again, I'll probably buy another one.

I tried to order this jacket a couple of months ago and it had sold out online. It became available last week and I ordered immediately. Intent is to use while I walk my dogs in the NE winter. I am 5ft 5" & weigh 123lbs. I ordered a S in the plum. Love the color. It came to my ankles and the jacket swam on me. I immediately ordered a XS. It was slightly shorter in length. The jacket still is a wee large but workable. The pockets are in an odd spot and are a bit high. The Hood...USELESS. Will not stay on and to clasp it shut it is about 2.5" of material that velcro shut around my CHIN and bottom LIP. WHAT? And clasping it shut leaves me a tiny view to see out of. I tested it out this week in the 5 degree weather. Not sure how they test the jackets to determine the weather rating but there is no way this jacket is -50 as I was freezing in 5 degrees. I also wore it in my house (64 degrees) for an hour waiting to over heat..nope. Overall: Pro: length was good for my purpose. Con: Does not keep me warm, Hood not functional, and pockets in odd spot. This jacket will be going back to the store. :( Search continues.

Everything LLB says about this coat is true! Yes, it's a flattering cut. Yes it's warm and cozy on the coldest of days. And, yes it's easy to take care of. I bought a full length white coat, and I love it. Size is true. The way the zipper works is great! Such little things make it a great buy. Oh, and the way it covers your face when the wind is blowing, you barely know you're outside! Love my new "big-girl coat"!!!

I never worry about getting cold in New England anymore. I love this coat in the long length royal purple. This is one of the best things I ever bought for myself, I get cold easily and have a chronic condition that makes being in the cold hard sometimes. I have received numerous compliments and even met a few women with the same coat (different colors and lengths) , and the consensus is we all love our coats! I feel I can wear this anywhere at anytime stay warm and look good doing so.

I love this coat! It extends to my mid-calf area and is a perfect fit for me. It is so comfortable and warm. I'm a native Mainer but currently reside in North Carolina. I purchased this November 2014 around the time Winter temps were around 20-30 degrees or lower here. The hood makes the coat complete, keeping me so warm and dry. I get so many compliments about how attractive the coat is and I get frequent remarks from folks wishing they had a coat like this one. I also purchased 3 other items from LLBean to make it a complete set: the Women's Hat Attack Knit Trapper Hat (for days that I don't want to wear the hood), the Women's Ultrawarm Mittens in Brown, and the Women's Wildcat Boots, Pro. Bring it Mother Nature!

Unfortunately I found my arms to be cold in 18 degree weather. I have worn the coat twice with the same result. The rest of the coat was warm and the length was perfect for walking the dog.

I have had this coat for about 2 months now and held off reviewing it to make sure it was as wonderful as I originally felt upon first putting it on. This coat keeps you warm from top to bottom even during some of the coldest days of New England. The best part of it is that it is washable in your own machines- no dry cleaning bill with this one! I have washed it once already and it comes out beautifully. Best coat I've ever had bar none.

I love this warm coat and it makes walking my dogs over the winter more bearable. However, I wish the Velcro flaps to tighten the hood under the chin weren't so thick. If I am wearing the hood without attaching the Velcro (which is usually the case) they sort of flap out to the sides and just look weird. I hope that next year this part of the coat is styled a bit differently because I would like to get the knee length coat as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GTAZ SUPER DUPER COAT!
Before purchasing this coat I read reviews both good and bad. First, the good!
This coat, when worn with appropriate winter clothing, is really warm. For a few days we had subzero weather with windchills. One day I wore it when the temperature was -5 and the windchill was -20 to -30 degrees. I was toasty warm. Especially with the hood feature. It features hood flaps that come together around the neck and chin area to close and form a wind-tight seal. The hood fits snuggly over my head and sticks out 3 or so inches to protect my face from the wind. Even when the wind was blowing right in my face the hood and faux fur lining caught most of it, sparing my face.
Now for the bad. There is no bad. Some people made complaints about the zipper, the fit of the coat, how the coat drapes. Also people complained about down escaping from the coat. I will address all these issues.
The zipper was a little difficult at first. Now it is just fine. Works 99% of the time. About the down... yes a little escapes here and there...but that is normal for any down coat. At least for me; because the previous 2 down coats I owned lost a little fluff now and then. One person mentioned the coat makes one look pregnant. Doesn't unless worn with bulky clothing underneath.
And the coat can be slimming...although that could be because I have broad shoulders. And about the fit...make sure to measure yourself before talking with order reps....they will help you find the best fit whether misses, petite, or women's sizes. If I hadn't measured, mine wouldn't fit me so well.
Anyway it's a super duper coat and I would highly recommend it!

After stalking this coat online and watching it sell out, I nabbed it in the gorgeous spruce color at an LL Bean outlet. I had to settle for the Petite S (I would normally be a regular S), but it fit perfectly and didn't seem skimpy anywhere. I am 5' 6" and the length is perfect - keeps all of me warm and cuddled as though I rolled out of bed and took the down comforter with me, but isn't so long that I'd trip on stairs. Sleeve length is also fine due to the fleece cuff insulation. This coat is beautiful, incredibly comfortable and wonderfully warm, fits sweaters underneath, and the only complaint is that it's boxy and shapeless through the waist -- I wish it had a little more waist definition. But I have other coats for that. This one is about keeping warm and the color, fur and thoughtful details more than compensate for the boxiness.
