This saw is a must have for anyone who may need to cut wood while in the woods or looking to cut paths/ sight lines. it is light weight, it packs small and is fairly sturdy as a bow saw. it took 2 or 3 times assembling it to get the hang of it, but is a quick assemble and take down.
cons: the aluminum gets cold and is slippery when wet. Blade does loosen sometimes mid-cut, but you can feel it right away and tighten the wing nut to secure it.
I am always looking for lightweight, durable tools that get the job done. I take this one with me every time I'm out for a couple days.

Great design. Horrible blade. Lack of kerf means anything bigger than an inch jams the blade.

While I have had this saw only a short while, I am impressed with the quality of the materials used and craftsmanship. I have used it around the yard to do some pruning and trimming and was impressed with handling, set up and take down, as well as how quickly and easily it would cut, but my main reason for purchasing the saw was for my backpack, that is where I am the most impressed, how very little room and weight it takes up compared to any other cutting device capable of doing what it can. Not to mention the saws own lifetime warranty as well as LL Beans 100% satisfaction guarantee! A win win scenario!!

Great backpacking saw. Fairly easy to put together once you've done it the first time. Cuts though pretty good sized logs very quickly and feels very study and stable while cutting. The blade and cross members pack away into the handle and are kept inside the handle with the saws hanger. Simply remove the hanger and slide the parts out. When its put together, its very large and easy to handle which is good. There's two things that need improvement. First, the parts slide around inside the handle a little, but its not noticeable when hiking. Second, the smooth aluminum handle doesn't give you much of a grip and gets extremely cold in low temperatures. I fixed this problem by sliding two pieces of a bicycle tire inter tube over the handle, one above the blade and one under the blade. I would definitely buy another one if something happened to mine.
