Rated 4 out of 5 by chessie1 Worked out well
Used the online guide to pick out the correct kayak rack for our Rav4. This worked out great for transporting the kayak on a recent trip of over 600 miles each way. We learned by experience to put a few turns in the straps so they do not act like a guitar string and make noise with the wind. Much quieter this way.
Only reason did not give 5 stars is that one of the nuts got stripped just from the motion of the car/kayak/wind on first use and we will need to get it replaced under the warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lchollis Great alternative to the "J" style carrier
I didn't want the expensive "J" style kayak carrier and found this top deck carrier to be a great alternative. Thule makes the best carriers, and while the price at LL Bean was the same as everywhere else, I got it when they were offering a 15% off all purchases and free shipping.
Also to note, Thule doesn't list all the vehicles that this carrier will fit on their website. I took a chance andI bought mine for a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek and had no problems. Although the included tie-down straps were more than long enough to securely tie down the kayak, I am probably going to switch them for ratcheting ones. I found it very difficult to pull them tight enough on my own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by loonwtchr yea it works
I was about to give up solo kayaking because of the difficulty loading my kayak by myself, yes I'm old with a bad back. I decided to try this carrier first. The carriage bolts are not threaded far enough down the shaft for me to tighten the brackets adequately and they are a weird size, neither metric not standard. I bought some 1/4" rubber grommets and then I was able to install with no problems. I am so happy that I bought this carrier, now when I get the kayak up, it doesn't slide off before I can get the straps on. It holds the kayak steady enough that I don't feel I have to cinch it down so tight that I squish it. A great solution.

Very easy to install. I did it myself and I was able to tie down my kayak on the roof of my SUV with no difficulty. I feel it is easier to get the kayak on the roof with this kind of rack when you are alone.
