I love this! I bought it, not for fly-fishing, but to tote bug boxes, magnifying glasses, etc., when I lead school groups at our local Nature Center. It works for that like a charm! Very well made! The medium is a bit large through the armholes, but since it's really for fly-fishing, I can see why it would need to be -- and it doesn't present a problem for me.

I purchased this vest, not for fishing, but for wearing during horseback trail rides. It works very well for that, since I can put my essentials in the many pockets on my person in case I get separated from my horse. My phone, GPS, lip balm, sun screen, pocket knife, map, tissues, first aid kit, etc fit very nicely in the pockets very well with lots of room to spare. You don't want to load too much in the front pockets, or the vest becomes "front heavy". The large pocket in back is handy for a light jacket. I got the XL so I could have plenty of room for layers if needed, and it fits well for that. It suits my needs very well. For the women, it should be offered in colors, not just the cement, so it would be more feminine looking, hence the 4 star rating rather than the 5. I have not laundered it yet, but it appears to be well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MilitaryMa Perfect fishing vest for a princess
My daughter is a lovely mix of princess and pioneer. She loves to dress up and be pretty but she is equally comfortable hunting or fishing. This pink fishing vest lets her have the best of both worlds. She looks pretty in pink and has plenty of pockets for all her gear when she is out on the river. Definitely a great buy. Product is rugged and appears to be wearing well.

I was unable to purchase the size I needed. The item was reduced in price when I discovered it, and although I visited our local store, they did not carry it.

I do not fish, but needed a vest and found this an intriguing piece - most convenient with all the pockets. It is just fabulous! Classical Bean superb quality, and delightfully quirky. I will be wearing this forever.

When this came on a deep sale I looked first to buy one for a granddaughter who has visitation with her Daddy, who is an avid fisherman. She loves to fish with Daddy so the vest was special for her. While I was at it I decided to buy one for another granddaughter who is a Brownie and camps with her Troop. Well, okay, Mommy camps with the Troop, so get another so they match. Finally, another daughter loves pink, hikes and camps, so get her one too. Four (Yikes!) vests later, all the young females are outfitted and only one fishes. But the price was good and they love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MacInCT Great vest!
I am a new fly fishing enthusiast and wanted a light weight vest to carry all of the odds and ends associated with the sport. For this, this vest is perfect.
I am also an aspiring water colorist and wanted a vest with lots of pockets for my camera, sketchbook, etc. Again, this vest is perfect.
I also have to travel on business and I can see that this vest could replace my usual carry-on for iPhone, meds, snacks, and all the other bits and pieces that make air travel less onerous.
The color, "cement", is a useful neutral.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Frenchy My latest find from Bean!
I have NEVER been fishing, but I travel a lot. This makes a perfect travel vest. We just took a nine day trip in May and a fourteen day trip in June. I wore this vest every single day. I now need neither a pocketbook nor a purse hanging around my neck. What freedom! Thank you L.L.BEAN for this fantastic vest.
There are two zippered inner pockets in which I put little purses with money, credit cards, license, insurance cards, etc. There are two breast pockets for tissues, tickets, toilet seat covers, etc. There are two lower zippered pockets and four velco closed pockets for cell phone, comb, lipstick, keys, candy, bandaids, snacks, etc. There is even a zippered pocket in the back that covers the whole back. I put my Bean pima cardigan in it.
I washed it in the bath tub in cold water and let it drip dry. It came our perfect. it did not need to be ironed.
They run VERY big. I wear a large in the pima tops, but ended up with a small. I also am keeping a medium to wear over sweatshirts. I gave my niece one for her birthday and she loves hers too. She also needed a smaller size than she usually wears.
I was lucky to get this is pink. I hope that Bean will offer this wonderful vest in other pretty colors.

Even after reading several reviews in which women said they liked this vest more than they'd expected, meaning I was expecting to like it, I STILL liked it more than I'd expected! It's perfectly comfortable, the fabric is much nicer than I'd thought it would be, and the pink is a softer, more lovely pink than it looked online. And those pockets! You'll have totally free hands with this vest on. I got it for hiking with my dogs, and there is room for everything we'll need, and most of the pockets are secure, too, so I won't be checking my keys and cell every couple of minutes. I can't wait to try this out, later today. I had been dreaming of such a garment, not realizing one existed, and would never have thought of fishing gear as a place to start my search. I am very thankful it was the sale of the day, and very glad I check for those sales every day.

How many times has this item been a featured markdown? You're pitching it all wrong! Don't call it a "fishing vest." How about: "You'll be the only one at the mall with this cute, practical, durable, hands free SHOPPING VEST! Snazzy pink color ... lots of fun pockets for money, cards, keys and lipstick. Machine washable, but don't forget which pocket is holding the lipstick!" Just a thought...
