Rated 4 out of 5�by CJBMN Not essential but clever addition This is kind of a gadget which isn't absolutely necessary, but does prevent the splash/slosh of water from a wide mouth bottle. It fits well and this is the second one I've purchased. You do have to clean it regularly so it doesn't get slimy--I find this does more often than the bottles, but all is dishwasher safe. So just keep it clean. May 2, 2013

Because it makes using Nalgene type bottles handier, I think it is a tool to help encourage using washable bottles and getting rid of plastic throw-aways. The smiley face is a great pick me up. Great gifts. My friends all say it brightens their day. February 6, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5�by lovestohikemtns I like the smiley face This does cut down on the splashes when drinking out of my Nalgene wide-mouth water bottle, but the fit doesn't completely seal off on the one side, so water leaks a little around the edge. That being said, it is still easier to take a big gulp of water now than before I had a splash guard. Whenever anybody sees the smiley face, they comment on how cute it is. December 29, 2012

From the minute I unscrew the bottle and see the happy face smiling at me to the fact that I don't end up with water all over my shirt it really makes me smile. Seriously, I had used wide mouth bottles for years before I discovered the splash guard and wore a lot of water. I like to use a lot of ice in my drinks and when you have it in the bottle it tends to cause a splash as you drink. The guard totally solves the problem. December 26, 2012

I got him the smiley face cap and he loved it. He was able to drink while walking. This is great, easy to clean and would help everyone from young to older. September 18, 2012
