by IdeaHooks Broken Handle
I like this suitcase a lot and had just returned an older duplicate that had a broken zipper. However it had seen plenty of use and the LL Bean no questions return was great. They sent me a new case in just two days. So, great to start.
Then, first use, we arrived in Barcelona and the pop-up handle came completely off at the top.
So, recommend it - yes, but only if they fix the handle problem on new cases.

The bag is great, but the handle is extremely unacceptable. I have had the bag for four months and the handle broke on a flight back. The bag came out on the luggage carousel and I retrieved it and tried to extend the handle. The plastic handle came off in my hands and I was unable to extend it, so now I had to carry it.
I read the reviews before I purchased it and most said the same thing, the bag is great, but the handle is junk. Well LL Bean stepped up and replaced it, so I will give it one more try.

Rated 1 out of 5 by redkev defective design, do not purchase
This is my second bag in less than a year. The first one lasted less that a few months. I ordered the replacement, assuming that the defect had been corrected. Not so based on some of the other one star reviews. The plastic pull-up handle breaks where it intersects with the aluminum extendable bars. LL Bean should take this product off the market. I am not the only person with this issue. I am returning it for a refund.

I love this bag and use it great deal, honestly wish there was one in a larger size for longer trips. However, this one is perfect for those 3-4 day business trips. The quality is excellent and much better than a previous Samsonite bag, on which the zippers were a constant problem.
Because of the product guarantee and ease of replacements if needed, I decided to always shop L.L. Bean first.

by frKearney nice bag
I have other clothes bags from distant past of LLB. All great and durable. This unit, I like so far, and have not had exactly this type carry bag prior. Seems to keep my shirts a little better, less wrinkled, than other types I have had. Nice embroidery work I requested. This bag seems that it will be durable. I rigged myself a shoulder strap, as that fits the needs better sometimes, rather than rolling, which I really do not like. It does roll nicely however, and seems quite stable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by southernsportsman Handle Breaks - This is my 9th bag
This is my ninth bag in two years. The handles have broken where they intersect with the extendable uprights. Ive been using LL Bean products for 40 years and this is my first disappointment. Now at $329 Im stuck in a perpetual cycle of return one broken bag and get a new one. Hopefully LL Bean fixes this soon!

Excellent. Heavy. Well built. Larger than one would expect. Easy to over pack. Goods worth price charged. Easy to move about. Interior well thought out. Now clothes do not have to hang in the interior of the vehicle. Great customer service when ordering. Make sure when closing not to place the zipper ends down at the wheels. They may drag and or catch on something. Not a design flaw.

I had this item for years and loved it. After lots of wear and tear, I finally replaced it only to find that they had changed the design. The new one had to be replaced THREE TIMES in six months with each one having the SAME defect. The handle breaks off. Definitely not thee LL Bean quality I know.

Bought this bag several years ago, it's very good looking, but I had the same problems with the handle that other reviews have noted. It broke after a year of use, had it repaired, then one year later it broke again - is stuck and won't extend. I could get it repaired again, I guess, but I really don't have the time. For this price, I expected more.
