The customer service at the LLBean in Tyson's Corner Virginia, is par none the best customer service i have ever received. Bought this roof rack along with a kayak during a recent 20% off sale. The folks at the store went above and beyond to help me pick the best roof rack to mount my kayak on. They thoroughly explained how it worked and even provided a demonstration for how to load and unload the kayak. I think everyone who was working that day came up and helped explain one aspect or another of the many items i purchased that day. I even received an extra discount because they did not have all the parts for the rack i originally picked. The Tyson's Corner LLBean staff helped install the roof rack and were kind enough to let me come back later that day to pick everything up since i had to leave in the middle of them putting the rack together. As they were installing the rack it started to rain and they kept working in the rain. Just absolutely amazing and friendly staff and i can drive worry free knowing the rack was installed appropriately. Driving home was windy, and despite the wind i didn't feel any drag from the rack. Very aerodynamic. Can't go wrong with this rack or the staff at your friendly Tyson's Corner VA location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Davidllbean Thule 883 glide and set package
until now I have been using an upright carrier for my kayak It is a very good one but Its been harder and harder to get the kayak up there. The glide and set kayak carrier is so much easier to get the kayak onto the roof of the car I have not found any drawbacks with it
I am 65 yrs old and I'm sure this will make it easier to enjoy kayaking

by moosaki Finally found the right fit.
I have been searching for a carrier I could load by myself that cost less than my Kayak. I found this and it is the prescription to my requirements. It goes on the Mercedes Factory Rack with ease and no adjustments needed. It comes with correct and good quality hardware. All of the straps and tie downs are included to secure the Kayak. This product appears quite durable. Recommend the Thule Water Slide accessory for self loading. It is sturdy also.

I love it! I'm a little old gray-haired lady and need all the help I can get loading my kayak on top of my car! The Gild and Set is wonderful, makes loading the kayak very easy.

This is my second set of saddles for my kayaks. I can get my kayak up by myself. They are better than the J racks for that. I can't slide the kayak up from the back because of my car - Prius has a spoiler thingy that gets in the way.

I would definitely recommend these racks. My sister-in-law and I tried the J bars which we found difficult to use. We switched to the Glide and Set. We found it to be so much easier. One of us guides the front of the kayak into the pads and the other pushes it forward. We purchased the water slide mat (to protect the car). The mat is also used to slide the kayak off when unloading. Unfortunately it does take two of us. I think a stronger person could handle it on their own.

The glide and set saddles are great, they make it easy for me to load the kayak by myslef onto my jeep. (I am a petite female) They install very quickly and easily, just took a few tries to get the spacing of the saddles on the crossbars corect so the kayak would sit right. I did this by myself and it proved to be a work out, kayak up, kayak down, adjust saddles, kayak up...etc. so I do recommend having another pair of hands around when you do this part. Otherwise, they work like a charm!
