I've been purchasing supplex shorts for years. I wear them for running and swimming. They've been very good quality, convenient because of the pockets, comfortable, well-fitting, and quick drying. I purchased new ones last summer (size medium). They were huge in the waist. I checked the waistband against my old pair and it was 1 to 2 inches larger. I contacted LL Bean and they were gracious about sending me replacements. The replacements were also way too large. I purchased one size down --small), but the dimensions were wrong because I don't wear a small. Frustrated, I just returned them, hoping my old supplex shorts will last a long time. I was hoping that 2013 would bring back the proper sizing, but after reading the recent reviews, it doesn't look that way. Please bring back the previous design which I would have rated 5 stars. Thank you

These shorts are the most versatile garment I own. I use them for swimming, canoeing, hiking, working out, yardwork, and general casual wear. I even wear them under my wet suit when I go scuba diving. I own six or seven pairs and will get a few more for this summer. Great pair of shorts.

I swim about six miles a week in the local YMCA, so swim shorts are essential equipment for me.
First the good: they fit and cover what they need to cover as swim trunks.
Then the bad: within the first week, one of the rows of stitching in the waist band came loose.
Finally, the ugly: after two weeks of swimming five days aweek (A nd rinsing the shorts in fresh water after every swim, the light teal color has become a muddy gray-green. I've had other, more colorful swim trunks from another catalog which held up in better color and condition for a lot longer.

These were nice swim trunks until they faded from the chlorine in the swimming pool. Started out navy blue and are now a faded gray.

What were they thinking? Well, I guess they didn't actually call them swimming trunks for a reason. After watching mine fade from green to pale yellow in a few months I noticed the care tag "only non-chlorine bleach..." LLBean really needs to develop a line of swimwear for use in swimming pools.
The not-swimming-trunks are good otherwise except for that color thing.

Order a size down!! Having purchased numerous pairs of these shorts over the years (which lasted beautifully), I decided to update and add to my supply with 3 more pair. I noticed upon arrival they were a lighter material. but thought I could overlook that. I went ahead and laundered them, but what I didn't expect when I put them on was the change in fit...for the same size, the change in waistband was huge!! Placing the old and new pairs "sideseam to sideseam", the waistband now extends a good 2 1/2," making the waist some 5" wider. Thankfully there's the drawstring to pull them in, but then the overall fit looks and feels terrible. I'd still recommend the shorts, but you should order a size down, and hope the seat still fits.

I love this style. Not too short, not too long. I really have a vendetta against long trunks, but these fit the bill perfectly. The mesh lining that is there is also a must-have for me, so these again fulfill my criteria. I have the dill and the navy. The dill is my favored color, but I'm definitely going to get some more next summer.

We ordered a couple of differnt pairs of shorts for an up coming trip to some warm climates. Hubby has been wearing them hiking in our warm climate and says they are very comfortable.

I just bought 3 pairs of these, and they are great. Fit is good, pockets are nice, fabric is comfortable and quick drying. They look good to wear around the house or at the beach.

These shorts are very comfortable and dry nicely. The 6 inch shorts are great for the pool, but I'd recommend the 8 or 10 inch for the trail or river.
