Rated 5 out of 5 by Anthony171 Wonderful boots
I bought these boots last summer when I went to a music festival on Randall's Island in Manhattan. It rained cats and dogs the first day which in turn, transformed the island into a a giant mud pit. My feet stayed dry as a bone all three days of the festival. I was thankful that they were 12" because the mud was certainly more then ankle deep in many spots. They were very sturdy and comfortable. I'm sure that they would have lasted years however, I believe that due to their attractiveness, they were stolen from me at a music festival the following month. Lots of people asked me where I had gotten them and the hipsters called them "steampunk"? All I know is that they were wonderful boots and worth buying twice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AJGarcia Remarkable for over 26 years
My first pair of these hunting shoes was purchased as I was leaving for college in 1987, and the rubber bottoms finally had to be retired yesterday. I've never owned anything so reliable and consistent. Mine didn't receive pampered treatment - they saw regular use hunting, fishing, ice fishing, with one cleaning and treatment of the uppers each year. They are simply a three-season go-to for me if it might be wet. Even in writing this I'm amazed as I think back to all the places I took these boots, or maybe that they took me. I'm buying my second pair this week, and I truly expect that it will be the last pair I'll ever need.

As usual Bean's delivery is first rate and the boots arrived in great condition.
- Boots are nice and light.
- Leather is supple and does not require any real break-in period.
- While the product is claimed to be waterproof, I treated the leather, particularly the stitching with a well known brand of natural beeswax leather preservative just for my own piece of mind and I can now attest to the boots being waterproof.
- The 12" boots come with 10 eyelets, you can't have any more than the first 3-4 sets of eyelets laced up when trying to slip your foot in the boot, so it would be a good idea to order the speed lacing for the 4th to 10th set of eyelets to make things a little easier to do up the laces.
- Boots were relatively warm wearing a medium weight wool hiking sock and very comfortable on my first hike out slogging around thru the water and mud.
Very pleased with my purchase so far.

This is my third par of boots. My first par I got in 1978. The 2013 par seams to be better then the first one's.

I've worn these boots since 1976, I'm not sure how many pairs I've purchased, nor how many times I've had individual pairs of uppers re-bottomed. Whether cruising timber, or hunting, they've filled the bill for comfort and dry feet when the water was not too deep. In April, my younger son and I visited the store in Freeport, ME, and he bought his first pair. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Bought these for a Christmas gift, LOVED them, but the true test was WEARING them..Yes, he only loved them more!
Comfortable, does the job with the New England Winters, and more. Seem like they will last forever. Got them on sale, but worth even full price!

I've written about these boots before, they are wonderful. One quality that I appreciate about these boots is that the soles do not get clogged up with mud. The "chain link" tread gives traction without the usual heavy mud-buildup. The "chain-link" tread cleans itself out easily by walking, or stepping briefly in water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Seattleite1111 Great boots, not for frequent use
Tried on these and the 10" at the same time for frequent use in rainy Seattle weather. I think these are great boots, but the length makes them a bit tough to pull on and off easily, and there aren't many occasions where the extra 2" is actually needed.
I'd suggest sticking with the 10" unless you plan on truly inundating these in proper wilderness wear.

This is my 3rd pair of Bean Hunting Boots. Every time I invest, I do not regret. The only drawback is that they are just stone cold. There are few socks out there that can counter act the Maine cold.
