Rated 5 out of 5 by dstroud600 Great Boot!
This is my third pair of Bean boots, but my first "Maine Hunting Boot". These boots are much more comfortable than my previous pairs - no break-in period required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by rnmmontana Still the best light weight boot there is!
Boots arrived as ordered and promised. Sizing advice is right on. I wear an 11 regular street shoe an a 10 regular gives me room for a medium insole and a heavy pair of socks. My father, a logger, has been wearing these boots in the Montana fall, winter and spring since the 1930's and I have been wearing since the 1950's. There is no better light weight boot for active winter wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MarkinMetairie Nice boots, but hard to fit
These are quality boots, but they are difficult to fit if you have a narrow foot and wear a half size. I usually wear an 11 1/2 n and sized down to a 10n as recommended. This shoe was too short and tight with a medium weight sock. Sized up to the 11n and they were too wide and too long. It appears, for me at least, that a 10M is the best compromise; they could be a little narrower and slightly longer, but they will do.
Bean's customer service is excellent; it took three attempts to get an acceptable fit and they worked with me all the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HawkeyeCanoeGuy Its reputation is well earned
Comfortable, stable, easy break-in, functional, great looks. Not much else to say. Heed the advice of others and downsize from your street shoes. I'm a half size guy, so ordering down to the next full size was just right. I'm also an E width: the standard width is plenty wide, even with heavy socks on. I've had them out in our Fall wet weather already and my tootsies have stayed warm and dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gamewarden649 12" Maine Hunting Shoe- Great boot
I finally took the plunge and bought myself a pair of the 12" Maine Hunting Shoe. I work outdoors and play outdoors in northwestern Ontario, Canada. I wanted a rain boot/ early season hunting boot other than my tall Muck Boots. The quality seems great and the boots are comfortable. Like other reviews, these boots fit large. I typically wear a 10 to 10.5. I ordered the size 9 in a medium width and there is ample room. I recommend wearing a slightly heavier sock with this boot to enhance comfort. Although the boots were treated by Bean, I plan on treating them with an aftermarket protection/ conditioner to maintain water repellency and leather condition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DrumminDon Great boot, a dependable product
I am a landscape/gardener. I have been wearing Bean boots, 8",10" and 12" since 1982. I can depend on at least 2 sole refits....but I do work with some caustic materials from time to time. I have just purchased #s 11 (sz 10) and 9 (sz12).....I can't give a better rating. Best boots out there, they are ALWAYS available, great in all weather. They give you at minimum 2 opportunities to re-sole; and incredible customer service. Can't say enough good things.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChMO So far, so good
I needed a pair of waterproof boots for the spring time. Snow thaw in MN brings mud and puddles and mud puddles, for that matter.
So far these boots are working as expected. They are great for commuting, I can tuck my work pants in the boots and avoid splatter. Though not insulated, my feet stay warm in them - down to 10 degrees or so, so far. They are perfect for playing in the muck - I have a two year old, muck reigns supreme.
They look good, and they make me look good. I'm a sucker for iconic American stuff. There is a reason these boots are iconic, they are endlessly practical. They are adventure shoes, and I look forward to the adventures we will go on together.
From all I've read, they should stand the test of time. More on that later. So long from the frozen north.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anthony171 Wonderful boots
I bought these boots last summer when I went to a music festival on Randall's Island in Manhattan. It rained cats and dogs the first day which in turn, transformed the island into a a giant mud pit. My feet stayed dry as a bone all three days of the festival. I was thankful that they were 12" because the mud was certainly more then ankle deep in many spots. They were very sturdy and comfortable. I'm sure that they would have lasted years however, I believe that due to their attractiveness, they were stolen from me at a music festival the following month. Lots of people asked me where I had gotten them and the hipsters called them "steampunk"? All I know is that they were wonderful boots and worth buying twice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AJGarcia Remarkable for over 26 years
My first pair of these hunting shoes was purchased as I was leaving for college in 1987, and the rubber bottoms finally had to be retired yesterday. I've never owned anything so reliable and consistent. Mine didn't receive pampered treatment - they saw regular use hunting, fishing, ice fishing, with one cleaning and treatment of the uppers each year. They are simply a three-season go-to for me if it might be wet. Even in writing this I'm amazed as I think back to all the places I took these boots, or maybe that they took me. I'm buying my second pair this week, and I truly expect that it will be the last pair I'll ever need.

by GreatWhiteBeaner Maine Hunting Shoe 12"
As usual Bean's delivery is first rate and the boots arrived in great condition.
- Boots are nice and light.
- Leather is supple and does not require any real break-in period.
- While the product is claimed to be waterproof, I treated the leather, particularly the stitching with a well known brand of natural beeswax leather preservative just for my own piece of mind and I can now attest to the boots being waterproof.
- The 12" boots come with 10 eyelets, you can't have any more than the first 3-4 sets of eyelets laced up when trying to slip your foot in the boot, so it would be a good idea to order the speed lacing for the 4th to 10th set of eyelets to make things a little easier to do up the laces.
- Boots were relatively warm wearing a medium weight wool hiking sock and very comfortable on my first hike out slogging around thru the water and mud.
Very pleased with my purchase so far.
