The 12 inch LL Bean Hunting shoe is no longer available in wide (EE) ... How could you do this to me/us? I have had 3 or 4 pairs over 40 + years ... Have worn them out, you re-soled them and ... Eventually I'd get a new pair BUT ... Can no longer get them. 11 EE ... Almost perfect boots and no more.

Due to backorder on women's boots, ordered the men's for my daughter. She loves them, the only issue is the laces are too short for the boot. We called LLBean and they gladly sent us replacement laces that were long enough to lace up.

Disclaimer: At the time of this review, I have owned these boots approximately 30 days and have worn them roughly 12 days (not consecutively).
I needed a new pair of boots for hunting / general wear after blowing out my old cheap pair that I had been wearing for several years. I originally thought of L.L. Bean because one of my good friends has had a pair of the Bean Boots as long as I have known him and he swears by them. These seemed like a good buy based on the numerous reviews, and I'm glad I chose L.L. Bean for my new boots. My foot is between 10.5-11 and the 10 fits me perfectly, with just enough room for a pair of thick socks and not too loose for regular wear with normal thickness socks. I haven't had cold feet one day while wearing these yet, and I'm really pleased with the build quality. Not having speed lacing hooks on the top three holes hasn't been an issue for me, unlike some buyers have reported.
A big plus: I have large calves (baseball and cycling) and boots are almost always too small at the top to fit me comfortably; not with these. The fit is ideal, and I believe there may be enough room to tuck my pants into these if I ever needed / wanted to.
Also, we've had a wet month here, and I've had these in water up to the ankle twice now with no leaks at all.
The only problem I see with these is the boot lace length: The laces are a little too short for me to be able to tie them and have much of a bow at the top. Laces 4-6" longer in length would be perfect.
Thanks for maintaining quality in manufacturing.

Once you understand what this boot is designed for, you will then understand and appreciate it. The leather upper is soft and supple. The gusseted tongue stays perfectly put and it is very comfortable hiking in even with socks that do not go to the top of the boot. These are NOT rubber boots that you can stand above your ankles in and expect to stay completely dry. The traction of the sole is excellent even for steep grades here in Massachusetts (leaves or no leaves). The sole is grippy and not as slippery as others have alluded to. The insoles are very comfortable and the boots dry out quick. The boots breathe way better than a full waterproof boot (obviously) and they are great when hiking/scouting with high activity. I have yet to use them in very cold weather but I look forward to. The boots are quiet and supple. I recommend to immediately treat the upper with either Sno-Seal or Obenauf's LP. I highly recommend this boot once you understand how it should be used. Go down 1/2 size. You need/want room in the toe box. You don't want these tight. That is how your feet will get cold on you.

Why not buy the best boots in America. Never have wet feet again! I have a pair and bought these for my son.

It's been several years since I've had a pair of Maine Hunting Shoes - my job and hobbies find me in mud and shallow water in mild weather- the Maine Hunting Shoe is the ticket for this kind of stuff - looking forward to not having wet feet.

I got my boots after being backodered for a month or so. Well worth the wait. Very well made and I like how they come with a card on who made them. I love ll bean products. True American quality.
Cannot wait to try them out in the winter hiking through the mountains.

I ordered these boots knowing they would be back ordered. I was told they would ship in June. They arrived around the end of March. I normally wear a 10 1/2- 11 in boots, for these I ordered 10 and they fit perfect. After wearing once all day( retightened laces once) they are perfect. I worked shaving cream into them the night they arrived to soften them up. Old baseball glove trick. Perfect boots! Ordered a pair for my wife.

This is my second pair of bean boots but my first pair of the Maine hunting shoe. For me these boots are perfect for outdoor leisure. They do run big in size so be careful if you decide to order. All in all I couldn't ask for a better pair of boots, I'll be asking for a 3rd pair for my birthday, you just can't beat the high quality and care put into every handmade pair of these boots. 10/10

by DJJC Great Spring to Autumn Woodlands Boot
I purchased these boots (Maine Hunting Boots) in October of 2013 and had great use with them during the autumn of that year. The boots are light weight and comfortable, plus, especially when new, they are a great looking item.
Unfortunately, while out in the hinterland of northern New Brunswick, Canada, later that year, a sharp twig that had been cut by an axe, punctured the rubber portion of one of the boots. I later successfully patched the boot but decided upon my next visit to LL Bean in Freeport, Me, that I would take the boots with me to see if I can get new lowers on them.
Upon talking to the LL Bean customer service folks about the possibility of having new lowers sewn on my boots, the gentleman replied, "How would you like a brand new pair of replacement boots, free of charge"? I was shocked and of course delighted by his comment and I did not hesitate to take him up on LL Bean's generous offer.
I now am on my second pair of LL Bean Maine Hunting Boots and I still love them, I continuously keep them in great shape by lubricating the leather uppers periodically.
In the accompanying photo (Camp Big Moose, Canada) my L L Bean boots are on the left, the other pair belongs to my brother, his boots are not the same good looking pair as mine..
LL Bean offers not only Great Hunting Boots but Great Customer Service, what more can a person ask for!
