Being an 8.5 I ordered an 8 and a 9 because reviews said the boots ran big. With thin socks the 9 definitely fit and the 8 was small. They are also very, very stiff at first so I wouldn't order them right before I needed them for a trip!

I ordered these boots in Nov as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She commutes via public transportation and has to walk 2 miles to the station morning and evening. When I placed the order in Nov I was told, as I had suspected, that delivery date was expected to be late Feb. I was disappointed but knew the boots were worth waiting for. I was pleasantly surprised when they appeared the third week of January. My daughter's neighborhood got significant snow from winter storm Jonas so she was able to put the boots to work immediately for the first major storm of the season. She is more than pleased with having warm, dry feet for her commute.

I love these boots. I have wide feet so I especially appreciate that they come in wide. They are comfortable to walk in, and keep my feet warm and dry. I ordered my regular size and they fit perfectly with thick socks.

I order the Women's L.L.Bean Boots, 8" Gore-Tex/Thinsulate in a size 7. Usually I am a size 7 in all shoes, but these were a bit too big in length for me, so I suggest ordering a half size smaller. Maybe with thick socks they will fit better.

These boots are great! I was so worried about the sizing, as they are made by hand and supposed to be larger than usual, so I went down one size and I'm so glad I did. Even with a very thick winter sock, I have room so my feet are not squished. I wear a size 8 in flats and a size 8.5 in gym shoes. I ordered a 7 in this shoe (no fur lining on the bottom) and the fit is great. They may feel a bit snug for a few days but after they loosen up they are incredibly comfortable. They are also great in the rain, and even when the weather is in the 50's, they are perfect to wear. I trek to work every day and they are light enough that I'm not struggling to walk nor am I sweating like crazy.
The only downside is that they are not ice resistant on their own. Even walking across the street with ice is nerve wracking, so I'd suggest if there's any chance of freezing rain or ice where you are, get the no slip/ice walker attachment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TLL123 Size 9.5 foot
I live in Michigan and thought it was time to update my snow shoes. Ordered them in October and got them in January and well worth the wait. I am a 9.5 normal size foot not skinny narrow at all, however sometimes i could wear a 9 like summer shoes and a 10 sometimes in winter with socks. So i was really worried about what size to get. I ended with a size 9 Medium Tex/Thinsulate boot. The boot is a little long with thin socks but with ski socks they fit perfect. I took the foot pad out and my foot is the right size for the pad so i dont think i would fit an 8. I have very cold feet and my feet stay pretty warm with the Tex/Thinsulate. I am so happy i went with that because i feel my feet would be so cold with out that.
So Size Fit is true to width because i have a very normal foot. Size somewhat small because i needed a 9 not a 10. I would have went with a 10 if i didn't read the reviews.
Over all So happy with my Shoes.

I got these shoes for the winter and literally EVERYONE at my schools wears these. I debated getting these opposed to the shoes that cost like 140 and don't have the thinsulation gortex thing. But I figured in the long haul that I should just spend the extra money and get these and I don't regret it for one bit. I do hate that once ordering them in November I would have to wait till January to get them, but something I didn't know was that they wouldn't charge me until they were about to ship, so that was nice. I did have to chat with someone online to get the right size and she was correct when suggesting I get a size down from what I normally wear. I usually wear between a 9 and a 10 depending on the shoe, and since this was going to take so long to ship, I wanted to get the right size. So I went and got a size 8 with the regular width and they fit well! A little snug but I prefer this to them being big and bulky. All in all, for my first pair of boots from LL Bean, I am happy. I wished I would have ordered them sooner given how long it took, but the quality of the boot made it all worth it!
So my only suggestion is by one size down, and order in the summer!

What else can I say that hasn't already been said? Buy these boots, not only for your feet, but also for your health! They keep your feet dry and warm, yet also comfortable. With these boots on, I don't have to worry about slipping or falling. I'm such a huge Bean Boots admirer that I make sure my entire family wears them. Even if it doesn't snow much where you live, get these boots if it rains a lot there.

Sizing is a bit tricky with these boots. I had to order a size smaller and the wide width to get the proper fit.
These boots are comfortable and get more comfortable as they are broken in. The Gortex lining is a nice feature, but can be a annoying when trying to get the boots off - it sometimes comes out of the boot with my foot.
Overall though, I'm happy with my purchase and am sure they will serve me well for many years to come.
