Rated 5 out of 5 by MtnMojo They really last!
I bought these about 15 years ago (maybe even longer). I lived on the Appalachian Trail at the time. I wear a 9.5 medium, so I bought a 10 for the winter socks. They are perfect. I climbed up in ice and snow with knowing my feet were safe. I now live in NYC. They still look great, feel great, and definitely do the job. I have never had my feet get wet while wearing them. And the traction is awesome. The older they get, the better they feel. Thanks!

These are amazing. I walk to work and these have been fantastic. I am typically an 8.5 but ordered a 7 to be safe. They were a little tight a first but have loosened up perfectly. I would recommend them to anyone. I know I will have these for a very long time. Best boots to buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PreppyAmanda Love these!!
I tried on so many snow boots in so many different brands. They were all either unsupportive, huge on my feet or incredibly unattractive. Then I ordered these and fell in love. They are very comfortable and well made and perfectly fit my preppy style. They are perfect for cold weather with tall wool socks and skinny jeans. The insulation is great and keeps my feet warm and dry, but not too warm. I still wear them comfortably in the rain when it is 60. The shoelaces aren't quite long enough to lace all the holes but I prefer them laced about halfway anyway. Was unsure about sizing. I am a true 8 and got the 7 and found I can still wear pretty thick socks with them comfortably. You won't regret buying these!

LLBean's advice to order a size down is absolutely right. They feel small when you first put them on, but after wearing them for just a couple of hours they fit you like a slipper and they actually feel a little bit big now. Also, taking the boots on and off is made a bit more difficult by the liners, but not impossible. These boots are surprisingly supportive and comfortable for a rubber boot. I've had them 2 weeks and I love them. I just hope they last as long as everyone says they will because they were EXPENSIVE! Worth investing in American manufacturing though.

The boots were too narrow and very stiff. The leather portion above the foot was very stiff and cut into the ankle.

I followed the fitting instructions, and suggest doing the same since the sizing is a bit different then normal. These boots feel like I've worn them for the last 10 years.. extremely comfortable, and cute to say the least, plus very warm and durable. Work well for any type of outdoor work: hunting, hiking, shoveling, etc. all while keeping my feet warm and dry. You name it and the boots will stand up to the challenge!

Rated 1 out of 5 by ChipsAhoyMcCoy Uncomfortable
I have a pair of uninsulated Bean boots that I just love. I ordered these because the thinsulate Bean boots without Gore-Tex were backordered for 3 months. The fit was good, but the lining was was very stiff, somewhat scratchy, and just didn't feel good. There was a bulky roll by the tongue where the lining attached to the leather that made them uncomfortable to walk in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KatieMS Great Boots!
I love these boots. I had been wanting them for a while & I recently took the plunge and bought them (just in time for a week straight of snow!). They are great for wearing in snow/slush/rain/ice. The warm lining made them perfect for bitter midwest winter days. Some of the reviews suggested getting a size up if lined, which I did but the boots are large on me. I generally wear them with thicker socks but you don't need to since they are lined, I just do it since my are big on me. I would definitely suggest them if you need great winter boots- especially since they last forever-my mom has a 15 year old pair she still wears!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kelly123 Amazing Boots! (But size DOWN)
These are, hands down, my favorite pair of winter boots. The gortex lining is fantastic, my feet stay warm (even on long walks in the snow and when it takes me an hour to dig out my car.)
Based on other reviewers, I ordered my standard size (8) since I wanted to be able to wear thick socks. Terrible idea - they were enormous. If I stood on my tiptoes, my heel would almost slide all the way out. I strongly recommend ordering a size down (for me, a size 7). Even with huge wool socks, and the gortex lining, they have some wiggle room.
I did a quick return on the phone, they were extremely friendly and helpful. And the new shoes were on my door step the NEXT day.
As an aside, I have since learned that the "fashionable" way to wear these is to leave the top two holes unlaced. Just in case you came to the L.L. Bean review site to learn how the kids are wearing things these days!

I think these boots were very well made, but they were so stiff, they were like trying to walk in ski boots from the 60's and 70's. There was no way that I could even walk in them. I have been told that perhaps the goretex or thinsulate makes them stiffer. I returned the boots.
