Rated 3 out of 5 by bandbox suspender buttons and waist size
I've had my wool pants for about 15 years and have to buy a new pair because I've put on weight and need a larger waist size. There's enough material to let the pants out, but the waist size can't be changed because my pair have metal rivet-type suspender buttons that go through every layer of the material at the waist band, thereby preventing alteration without leaving holes at the waist.
Otherwise, these are good pants and I got a lot of service out of them. Just be aware that if the Maine Guide Wool Pants being sold these days have the same type of metal-rivet suspender buttons, you may not be able to alter the waist size. But for that problem, I would have given a four or five star rating.

I ordered these as a replacement for your old Maine Guide pants, made of 16oz./sq. wool. the pants are now only 11 oz./sq. yd! They are much too light weight for cold weather hunting.......bring back the former weight......PLEASE!

Great Pants, Has a set that I used for years, Lost weight and had to buy a smaller pair. My old pair had the pockets on the side I wished these had them as well. But they are just as warm!

Rated 4 out of 5 by TheTallSwede Perfect for winter hikes
After seeing the caretaker?s Labonville wool pants in a White Mountains Hut, I picked up a Bean pair for myself. They have now taken me on two overnight winter hikes. One reported -70 degF after wind-chill and one 10 deg F through some streams. I was toasty as could be (with a base layer) and never felt wet (from sweat or water). Only downsides are that you really do have to wear long underwear to avoid chafing and they are dry-clean only.

I picked up these pants for a late season moose hunt. They were warm, quiet, and tough walking through thick brush and sticker bushes. I recommend wearing a base layer with these pants because being wool they are itchy if you don't. I will be buying a few more pairs for sure, no complaints with these pants.

Gave these pants a test run while stump shooting in 20F cold and snow with L.L. Bean wool long johns on and they performed very well for a lighter field pant. Material is excellent and will wear well no doubt. Purchased my normal waist and inseam length and they fit perfect with the long johns on, so they are made for layering. Set up for suspenders and belt loops take a good size belt. Comfortable and you can move around and function in the field. Light weight is nice, not too bulky. Only thing needed is cargo pockets, but I did not want the heavier pant that Bean offers as I did not want the wind stopper. These are quiet and breath well. Great all-season pant. Loden Green color is rich and nice.
