Rated 5 out of 5 by haydensister Absolutely LOVE these boots!
I read many reviews of these boots before I bought them, and found the most common complaints not to be true - the liner never has come un-velcroed for me, and I simply loosen the laces and I have no trouble getting my feet out of them! They are warm, comfortable and supportive. I love the way they look, and they do their job well. I have worn them almost every day since they arrived, and I just can't get over how much I love them! They needed no breaking in, and fit true to size (I am an 8). When I did wear thin cotton socks with them, I noticed they were a teeny bit big, but since they are winter boots, I almost always wear them with heavy winter socks and they fit great. I am sure they will last me a long long time, but when I need a new pair, I will certainly buy these again!

I am a third generation LL Bean customer. My first generation was born in 1899! I have given your product to the fourth generation and will soon give them to the fifth!
I have worn these shoes every day since they arrived. As with the products my grand daddy purchased, they perform as advertized. They fit, are water-proof, warm and look great!
I have grand children of my own now who are in their teens. Some of them are ready to take care of your products for themselves. Thanks for everything. Pass it on.

I read a lot of reviews before ordering these boots, and decided I needed to check the sizing. I went to my local store, and while they don't carry the hunter's boots, I was able to try the insulated regular boots. I wear a 9-1/2 normally, and was able to try on a 10 - the liners were snug, but my feet swam in the boots. They didn't have a 9 in stock, but it seemed safe to order the 9 and I did.
The 9s fit well, but like many other people here, I had enormous difficulty getting the liners on and off my foot. It definitely helped to pull them out and treat them as a sock, but after I had spent a day on my feet in them and my feet had swollen a little, they almost would not come off at all.
I ended up ordering a separate pair of liners in size 10, which fit my feet much better, and still fit inside the boots. It means however, that I wasted quite a bit of money on the original liners. I suggest ordering the unlined boots and then ordering the liners separately and one size larger.
All that aside - fabulous boots. Once I replace the laces with a longer pair, they'll be perfect.

this is the 2nd pair I bought (the first one for myself, this pair for my daughter in Toronto, CA). These boots are well worth the $$$. They are warm with only a thin pair of socks. Highly recommended.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SLJ395 These boots would be great- if you can get them on
I should have listened to the reviews regarding the effort it takes to put these on. I thought I wouldn't mind a bit of tugging, but this is certainly a process that would frustrate anyone trying to get out the door in the morning! I ordered a size down (I wear a size 7, ordered a 6) as the sizing information recommends. The Thinsulate/Goretex lining fits snugly on the foot, and the boot itself is still roomy. It is not the fit that is the problem - it's (1) the ineffective pieces of velcro meant to hold the lining in place, and (2) the unforgiving construction that does not allow the arch of the foot to pass through at the ankle. Although once on they are comfortable and warm, if they are for daily wear I recommend holding off on this boot until LL Bean revises the design!
I have returned these boots in favour of the un-lined hunting boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Catnus Say goodbye to wet socks!
Thus far have only used my boots in rain, yet, I can only assume they will be equally awesome in snow! True to size and great fit. Keep feet warm and dry. Comfortable and shapes nicely to foot. Definitely money well spent for the functionality and quality of these boots!

Rated 3 out of 5 by britmich Seem great, but fit information WAY off.
I loved the look of these boots when I received them, however, the information provided regarding ordering the next whole size down if you wear a half size was far from correct....
I consistently wear an 8.5, so I ordered an 8 and I can't even get my foot in let alone wear heavyweight socks! How disappointing to have to wait longer for a new pair in a size 9.
"To wear with heavyweight socks: If you wear a whole size, order your normal size. If you wear a half size, order the next whole size down.Example: If you wear either a 9 or a 9˝, order a size 9."

Rated 2 out of 5 by tolst Warm & comfortable, but they don't last
Although I was delighted with these boots for the first few weeks I wore them (and I absolutely still love them and wish I could afford to buy a new pair every season!), I invested in them with the hope that they'd keep my feet warm & dry for several years. Unfortunately, they're pretty much dead after a mere 3 months -- the liner is worn out and the soles are treadless. Granted, I was wearing them while trekking over ridges and through rivers for several miles a day (and they kept my feet comfortable & happy the whole time!), but I've never worn out a pair of boots -- much less an LL Bean product -- in a single season. The folks at Bean kindly explained to me that the soft soles wear out more quickly and that it's possible to purchase new liners and have them resoled, but I'd recommend saving the time and trouble in the first place -- buy the classic boots.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Swoop2007 Warm boots, horrible design
I purchased the Maine Hunting Shoe about 2 months ago, and I'm honestly very torn. I chose these because they were 10", whereas the Gortex/Thinsulate lined Bean Boots only went up to 8" (and I didn't want the shearling). They feel great - the description of the soft, flexible bottom is accurate - and keep my feet very warm and dry. That being said...
The liner is horrible. It's a terrible design. Yes, it's warm and waterproof, but it comes out ever time you want to take them off. The two ridiculously underpowered velcro strips at the top do nothing to hold the liner in place. Either the liner is sliding down when my foot goes in or is holding fast as I try to get it out. I have a slender foot, but it's a struggle to get these on and off.
My husband has the G/T Bean Boot, where the liner is sewn in, and I would recommend that 100% to anyone who is in the market for Bean Boots. The Hunting Shoes are warm boots, but just a terrible design.
(FYI - I'm a 9.5 and bought the size 9 boot, and they fit well length-wise.)
