The original Maine Hunting Shoe was Leon Leonwood Bean's first product, introduced in 1912. Over the years, we've made lots of improvements to these boots, but hunters have told us that they miss the moccasin-like feel that our original boots had in the woods. So we set out to bring it back.

The new Maine Hunting Shoe has an improved bottom that is softer and more flexible, allowing the hunter to better feel the forest floor. The new sole grips better and lasts longer, too, for many seasons of reliable performance. We've also added a steel shank in the arch for extra lateral support in rough terrain. We improved the upper with a premium waterproof leather that's softer and more supple, so it molds to your leg for a custom fit.
