Rated 5 out of 5 by treehugger123456 warm, waterproof, but lite
the best all around boot made. It is warm, very lite, waterproof, but fits like a shoe. It has a removable liner that can be dried, washed, or replaced. I have used this boot for 35 years as a forester, hiker, camper, hunter. I use this boot all winter long and in any wet conditions all year long. Normal leather boots or rubber boots leak, do not have the insulation and can not be dried out and cleaned inside. When backpacking you can take extra liners to always have dry feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Slimdaddy18 Thank you John!!!
According to the description of the item, I had ordered the boots a size smaller. When I received them, they looked well made and were absolutely beautiful to look at. When I tried them on, however, they were a bit tight. I couldn't understand why. Like I said, it said to order a size down. (If you plan on buying these don't and go with your regular size. Even if you're a half size, order next half size up.) So I called LL Bean and spoke with a product specialist named John. John spoke with me and then handled my situation with such class. He sent me another pair of boots while I still had the ones I ordered before. He told me to try the new ones on and if I liked them send back the old ones. So I did just that. When I received the new ones, they fit like a glove (not tight) and were comfortable. With service like this, they could make junk (but they don't) and I would still buy from them. Thank you LL Bean and thank you JOHN!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Texasron Great Product and Great Service
I ordered a pair of these books that were not insulated 8 - 10 years ago and was advised by the LL Bean customer service person to order a size smaller than my normal shoe size, which I did. I like your boots because you carry some in narrow sizes and I have a difficult time finding boots that fit because of my narrow feet. The first boots fit perfectly and I wore them on many hunting trips to keep my feet dry in muddy walking.
I have a trip coming up to Montana where I may need insulated boots, so I recently ordered the same boot in the insulated version. To my disappointment they were too small. I called your customer service group and they couldn't have been nicer. They exchanged the boots for a size larger at no charge to me. The boots fit perfectly and I look forward to wearing them for many years to come when I need extra warmth.
The service could not have been better.
Thanks from a loyal customer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SnowyJoey Not a $190 boot
I justified ordering these boots for $190 by thinking I could have them re-soled and would have them for life. I wanted good waterproof protection, so I went with this gor-tex model. I was disappointed when they gave me blisters on the inside of my feet, just in front of my heel. I do not have wide feet. I was also disappointed in the gor-tex liner. It is not sewn in. The Velcro does not hold it in place when putting the boot on and off. It seems like an after thought, especially for a $190 boot. Putting the boots on and off takes time without any speed laces on the top 3 or 4 eyelets. These are not the boot for you if you plan to use them to kick around and need to take them on and off often.
On a very positive note: I walked into the LL Bean store in Medford, NJ wearing these boots and expressed my concerns. They took them back no questions asked. I left wearing a pair of Cresta Hikers, which I absolutely love. For $10 more they are top notch quality and comfort. I highly recommend the Crestas.
Thanks
Joe

Rated 5 out of 5 by TheWoodsman Great Boots!
I purchased these two weeks ago as my first ever pair of Bean boots and I love them. They are very comfortable and the Gortex lining is incredibly warm. I would definitely recommend wearing thicker socks with the boots because they do run a little bigger. I know that I am going to have these boots for many years to come!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by BootGuy78 Great boot, disappointing liner
Havve always loved the traditional LLBean hunting boot line. My favorite lifetime go to boot for New England winters. Decided to get a warmer pair this time around and opted for the version with thinsulate. Disappointed in the liner itself and the system of anchoring the liner to the boot. Find myself spending a disproportionate amount of time adjusting and reinserting the liners each time I put on and take off the boots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BarCan Great boot. Had sizing issues.
These boots are exactly what I wanted for hunting and around the yard. They seem very well made and Beans satisfaction guarantee does not disappoint. I love the soft soles and the classic look.
I had trouble with the sizing. I wear size 11 regular in everything, and have done so for 15 years, so I did the suggested and ordered a size down. The 10's were quite small length and width wise, so Bean sent me an 11 in regular. The 11's fit better, but only with light socks. I wore them for a day around the house, and then the next day with my wife at the mall but my feet were quite sore due to the lining being too constrictive width wise. Bean was excellent and are now sending the 11 wide ones. Next I'll be ordering the 100th aniversary pair with the red bottoms, I just hope they don't go out of production before I get them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by colfaxent 5TH pair
I hope this pair lasts as long as the other 4 pairs I have worn in the past 35 years. Only 2 features i feel need improvement, I think that the quick lacing like on their pac boots should still be available, I had them add hooks but not as quick and they catch on your pants., I will miss the quick lacing, Also on all off the chain tread soles the tread wears off too soon and doesnt wear near as long as the uppers. But they are comfy like a slipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bwanapete Why I'd buy them again
Fit gives great comfort to my narrow "B" feet; boots are as warm as my old Hodgeman ice fishing boots, plenty warm for snowmobiling, or messing around in zero degree weather when worn over one medium pair of wool socks. If I hit low spots with standing water, my feet stay dry. The gum chain design soles have amazing traction, important to me when I walk our headstrong 100 lb dog. And when the snow is mushy or there is dirt, they don't track all that much stuff into the house. I had not expected all of these benefits. I've had them more than a year, and am extremely pleased. Don't know why I waited so long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by VTHunter Maine Hunting Shoes
LLBean Maine Hunting Shoes, insulated or non-insulated, (I have both) are the finest rough weather hunting/stalking boots that I have found, bar-none. The absolute best feature of these boots are the soles. In cold weather, they still remain as quiet as stocking foot stalking in warm weather. The only boots that I have found that give me the quietness that I desire. These boots are awesome, and I hope they never change them! They used to make a felt lined (slightly larger) version with similar soles, that were discontinued. They were my favorite cold weather boots ever, which I still use, but the soles are now pretty much sleds. Please bring them back!
