I wear them all winter. Deer hunting and working outdoors. Non insulated, because that's what Leon would have worn. Get your man card reissued and pick up a pair. You can feel a branch beneath your foot, really like moccasins.

I've had the shoes for a few weeks now and find them to be comfortable. The shoes appear to be well made and seem to provide good traction on a variety of surfaces. I'm planning on wearing these shoes on a hunting trip to South Africa in 2016.

They are well made. They do fit a little wider than a normal EE width. With the LL Bean boot sock they are very comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AnotherCruiser decent boot
A decent boot, very comfortable (with good wool socks) like a moccasin. They lasted two years, >1,000 miles through mud and wet, steep, rocky New England woods before the stitching gave out. The soles are worn smooth, but the leather and rubber uppers are still sound. I bought a new pair and will restich the old ones for backup.

These boots are not only very attractive but the quality of the construction is beyond what I could've imagined.
MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE SIZING GUIDE
I am normally a size 10 but sized down to a 9 and I still have plenty of room even for some heavy wool socks. Unless you plan on wearing heavy-duty sub-zero weather socks, size down!

I like creeping through the woods hunting for deer, hogs etc. I find these boots incredibly comfortable and waterproof. The customer service was simply the best. A+ experience.

I received my first pair of "Bean Boots" for my twelfth birthday and have never been without a pair.
The last pair I bought were given to my son last March (he needed a pair of winter boots) so the ones I ordered were "replacements".
Beans used to rebuild (re-sole) the boots but I don't see that service offered any longer, which would be my only negative regarding their products.

I've owned a pair of LL Bean boots for over 40 years...In the NW here its one of the most effective boots to wear during the fall/ winter season i the outdoors not just for hunting. Feet stay dry and warm not "wet" as some of the "other" major brands or wearing a pair of rubber boots that don't conform or allow ones feet to move and "feel" the ground you're on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Smilingsam Great boot
I first heard of the Maine Hunting shoe from a book on stalking that I was reading. Being from the great North-west, I had never heard of it (We don't have any LL-Bean stores on this side of the country), so I did some research. I was amazed by the quantity of 5 star ratings of the shoe, so I ordered one for myself. I have a wide foot but after reading other reviews about how wide the shoe is I was worried that a wide might be too wide. I ended up ordering the wide shoe. I'm very glad that I did. There is no indication on the rubber that it is the wide so part of me wonders if the wide is for the leather portion in giving more room for the ankle. Either way, I am happy with the fit and would recommend the wide if you have wider feet.
Some things others have commented on as well, but I wanted to give my opinion:
-The laces are too short to fully lace the shoe. Get new laces if that bothers you.
-I wore these for a while, but after I put mink oil on them, they truly broke in, I would recommend putting that on first thing.
-The shoes are very water proof, I was walking up a creek and my feet never got wet.
-Another reviewer recommend "speed" eyelets. I didn't get them, but kinda wish I did just for ease of use.
Overall, you really can't beat the quality of shoe (boot) for the money. Very comfortable. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GreenSettle Points to Consider
Allow me to be to the point:
- I wear a size 11 tennis shoe. As others have noted, I ordered the Maine Hunting Shoe in size 10. With Powerstep insoles, and Smartwool medium hikers, the fit is perfect. Simply order a size smaller than your tennis shoe size and you're set.
- I had read online one could special request speed eyelets. Girl on the phone was initially unaware of such but checked. "Turns out we can. That will be $1.25 extra." Per eyelet? "No. Total." Amazing and the best buck twenty-five you'll ever spring for.
- Was a bit worried after first day's wear (bottom of foot was a bit sore) but ever since that short break in, they truly have worn like slippers. Another initial concern has also proven a non-problem. I had worried about breathability, but I surmise the length to which the leather upper extends wicks moisture from the rubber shoe bed. Bottom line, circulates well and no clamminess.
You will not go wrong with these boots. A true American (made) classic like a Winchester Model 70 or an N-Frame Smith and Wesson. Every man should own a pair.
