Rated 5 out of 5 by Sidhean Greatest all-around boot ever
I've owned Bean boots since the 70s and have never found a better all-around boot. I wear them in the garden, to work, and all day on Saturdays. And if it's raining, well, then they're even better.

I like these boots overall. They are a bit warm when it is above 60 degrees out, but great for cooler temperatures and when it is wet underfoot.
Bean has an odd policy where they will charge you to repair the boots (I needed the uppers restitched to the bottoms) or they will send a new pair for free. OK by me except that now I have to break them in again.
My only complaint: my ankles are really thin and there is too much leather in the upper such that I cannot lace them very tight. Not sure how to fix this other than wear really thick socks.

I wore the boots for the first time all night at a rainy event with my hot dog cart and they were comfortable right out of the box. I am looking forward to wearing these in further inclement weather. Nice product!

Reasonably priced, extremely comfortable, waterproof, and reliable just like the last several pairs i have owned. No sportsman should ever go without a pair of these boots!

This is the second pair of 10" Maine Hunting boots that I've owned. Wore the first pair so much that I wanted a cleaner pair to wear around town. They are quite easy to slip on and go. Very comfortable, yet hard-working too.

I'm a Northeast boy myself and often found that I could survive without a good pair of boots. However, when my wife and I moved to Chicago, I knew I needed to bring out the big guns.
I spend about 30-45 minutes walking to and waiting for the train during my commute. In an area where temperatures routinely dip below freezing, not to mention the wind-chill, (Which has dipped into the -40 range) I was finding that my feet were usually the only uncomfortably cold part of my body. I wanted a set of boots that were comfortable to walk in due to the distance, yet substantial enough for the cold and the Bean Hunting Shoes seemed to be right kind of boot for me.
At first I was tempted by other bean boot models that had insulation built-in however, I decided to go with the Hunting Shoes because of the lower price, look/fit, and because I wanted to control how much insulation I had. Make no mistake that these shoes have, for all intents and purposes, no insulation. However, on the days where it ventures up to 30 degrees out here (Toasty right?) I don't need a ton of insulation making my feet sweat while I walk to and from work. On the days that it is frigid out, there?s enough room in the boot that I can comfortably wear one regular and one pair of thick wool socks and my feet stay warm.
Using the L.L.Bean size guide I bought a pair of size 10 boots (a full show size down from what I usually wear). I also went with the narrow model which initially I thought I had made an error but after a few weeks of breaking them in, they are perfect. As a matter of fact I often end up leaving them on all day rather than changing into a pair of shoes when I get to the office.
In closing, these boots are great and I highly recommend them to anyone, however, if you?re at all on the fence about whether or not these boots will be warm, spend the extra money and get a pair with insulation.

I have been wearing LL Bean Boots since 1978 when I first moved to Maine. Although I now live in Penna. these boots are the finest crafted boot hands down. One tough, comfortable, functional, good looking boot. If you only have one boot it should be from LL Bean

Rated 4 out of 5 by CityPrep Comfortable, warm, & stylish but liner comes out
These boots are fantastic because they look great and are warm. I have wide feet and ordered these a full size down and in wide and they fit well. The only complaint that I have is that when I pull the boots off, the thinsulate lining comes out every time, even with the velcro. It is quite frustrating. Otherwise, they boots are fantastic.

I lusted after these boots for a year or so before I got them as a birthday present and I love them. I got the unlined ones because I wanted to be able to wear them year-round. I'm glad I made that decision, but I've found the boots don't keep my feet warm at all. When it's very cold outside, like 15-30 degrees F, my feet get cold with even two pairs of warm socks on. I normally have poor circulation and my feet get colder more easily than other people's, so take these comments of mine with that fact in mind. I'm going to buy the liners they sell and hopefully they'll help. Other than the warmth issue, these boots are great. I've had them for a little more than a year now and they are very waterproof, very well-fitting (follow the advice Bean gives on sizing down), very comfortable right out of the box and they provide great traction. I use them on city streets and sidewalks where the dangers are snow and ice and they give me better footing than anything else I've tried. I love them!
Update: I bought the liners and I couldn't fit my foot in the boot with the liners in. Not that surprising since the boots are pretty close to my normal shoe size. So I returned the liners and bought the Maine Hunting Sock. They are great. These are the only socks that keep my feet warm in these boots when I'm out in the cold. No doubling up necessary. They're great. So, Hunting Shoe + Hunting Sock = perfect winter footwear combination.
