Rated 5 out of 5 by SkipperZ Great Boots for Reasonable
I've been looking for some supportive rubber type hunting boots for years now, which seemingly no one makes any longer. So given our upcoming RV trip to Alaska, I decided that it was time for me to find & buy something, almost no matter what the cost would be. And being a long-time fan of most everything LLBean, I went through their rather massive collection of men's boots, more or less settling on their 10" Hunting Shoe/Boot. And no, they probably won't be as waterproof as my former 12" Northerner Rubber Boots were, but if that's about my only option..........In any case, I ordered a pair of 9-wides, as I'm typically a 9 1/2 - 10 wide, which were still a bit on the sloopy side. But upon adding a pair of Superfeet insoles, which I typically add to all of my footwear, the fit was near perfect.
Additionally, I like the look, the support, the fit & finish, and most likely the great durability.
And I especially like the fact that I can get these boots on & off rather easily (although they are definitely not step-ins, like my old rubber boots were), which is very important to me, not having to wrestle with them.
And thanks again, for providing yet another great product.

I normally wear size 10. I ordered size 9 and they fit great. Very comfortable and waterproof. I am very satisfied with these boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ElCazdor Best Boots ever!
I bought these boots back in 2000. They have accompanied me on yearly hunting trips to Texas, Kansas and Illinois. They are extremely comfortable and quiet....exactly what I was looking for. I think I paid $119 at the time. After 15 years they have cost me about $8 per year. That's a deal any way you slice it.
This season I noticed some of the stitching was wearing thin after several hundred miles. I emailed LL Beam Customer Service and they said a restitch would run me $16. They are in the mail as of today. I'll update you in another 15 years.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by PastorB No Break-in - Awesome boot - Request hook laces
These are my first pair of L.L. Bean boots, and I love them. Having worn them for only a few days, I must comment on the lack of break in time that most boots require. These boots are soft and feel like a moccasin for sure. But they are not flimsy. Sturdy construction. But soft leather and rubber bottoms cause them to be ready to wear with no stiff leather to break in.
I wanted the hunting boot for two reasons.
1) It is the first boot design.
2) I wanted the steel shank for support.
Even though these boots have a steel shank, it is hardly noticeable, yet I do sense a bit of firm support in the sole.
I also requested the hook laces as I read about the option in a previous customer review. For $1.50 L.L. Bean will substitute speed lace hooks for the traditional eyelets. Well worth it.
I wish L.L. Bean would make the hook speed lace option more noticeable. If not for the customer comments, I would not have known this was an option.
Overall, a great boot. Soft. REAL QUALITY. These boots are made by craftsmen and clearly not from an overseas small budget manufacturer. I look forward to this first pair to be my last as I can see the quality of the make lasting a lifetime.

I wear them all winter. Deer hunting and working outdoors. Non insulated, because that's what Leon would have worn. Get your man card reissued and pick up a pair. You can feel a branch beneath your foot, really like moccasins.

I've had the shoes for a few weeks now and find them to be comfortable. The shoes appear to be well made and seem to provide good traction on a variety of surfaces. I'm planning on wearing these shoes on a hunting trip to South Africa in 2016.

They are well made. They do fit a little wider than a normal EE width. With the LL Bean boot sock they are very comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AnotherCruiser decent boot
A decent boot, very comfortable (with good wool socks) like a moccasin. They lasted two years, >1,000 miles through mud and wet, steep, rocky New England woods before the stitching gave out. The soles are worn smooth, but the leather and rubber uppers are still sound. I bought a new pair and will restich the old ones for backup.

These boots are not only very attractive but the quality of the construction is beyond what I could've imagined.
MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE SIZING GUIDE
I am normally a size 10 but sized down to a 9 and I still have plenty of room even for some heavy wool socks. Unless you plan on wearing heavy-duty sub-zero weather socks, size down!
