Rated 1 out of 5 by Lilyfish Rusted Screws = Rotted wood
My wife received this chair 6 years ago for her retirement and only used it outside 3 months each year. This year I noticed the screws on the seat falling out of the wood due to their rusted condition. This rust caused the wood to rot and split. The seat slats were not even painted underneath. This is now a project for me to take a part and completely rework the seat. This is extremely poor quality for what LL Bean projects as their standard. DO NOT BUY this chair in wood and expect it to be usable outdoors!

I ordered one of these a few years ago and decided to get another one for when we have company. It goes together quite well, the hardware isn't junky like some brands you encounter. It's definitely built to last. I don't leave mine out in the rain, I have a cover for it and it keeps it looking like new. Definitely a nice chair to have as an addition to anyone's patio.

Purchased a pair of the 3-position reclining Adirondack Chairs (Both, WHITE) for my deck. Love them. They were pricier than others I've seen (and I bought two footrests, too) but at least I know what I'm getting (quality, a company that stands by its products, great customer service, etc).
The assembly instructions could be a little clearer. Diagrams were hard to match to the pieces "in hand", L/R, orientation, which way to insert the screws, ... but hey, I'm an engineer ...
The chairs are comfortable; I expected a glossier finish rather than the "whitewashed" finish that doesn't feel "thick" or "gummy". Like they were painted with watered-down "flat" latex or primer. I'll wait a season before at least repainting the weather-facing portions. Possibly they'll be fine. Not sure.
There are two fat pegs you stick in that aren't attached by screw ... they just slide into the holes ...the directions indicate (I think, it is unclear) they provide stability during assembly ... but if they are indeed part of the finished product (hey, they are painted, after all), they will eventually fall out when moving the chairs and get lost. I may screw a thin wooden plate to cover the ends so they cannot slip out.
Disappointed the chair wasn't offered in Navy Blue, but ... in two shades of green ? And orange ? Fairly ridiculous.
But they are perfect for my needs, attractive, and comfortable, and my musings don't detract from the quality of the purchases.

by LoveLLBeaninMA Disappointed with Adirondack
I bought a couple of these chairs 5 or 6 years ago. These chairs are definitely up to the standard of other LL Bean's products. They are not "all weather" durable. There were rot and splintered after 4th year. The paint is still good though.

Chair arrived in good shape, and assembly went well with a few pauses for confusion. I over tightened all the fasteners, so had to also go back and loosen everything upon completion. Chair looks nice, but is smaller and lighter in weight than I would have liked. I would have also liked to have known that in order to fold for storage, that it will need to be partially disassembled.

Have had three red chairs and two footstools for a few years now, but they are really about ready to be retired. Paint has faded, various wooden parts are rotten and falling off. They have always been stored in the winter, but on an open wooden deck in the summer. I would not recommend these unless you are putting them on a covered porch. So sad. :(.

This chair was exactly as I had hoped it would be - - comfortable, sturdy and aestheticaly pleasing. I purchased two in red and they were easy to assemble. I appreciate the uniqueness of the reclining feature and find these very versatile. Thanks, LL Bean!

by sacrebleu62 roitten wood
We received two of these nice-looking chairs in 2006. We used them outside for the summer and stored them inside in the winter. Last week a visitor fell through the back of the chair (no harm to him) and when I looked that the chair, I saw that the wood was rotted. In fact, the soft wood that these are made of was rotted in both chairs. A picture is attached. Maybe these should be made of hard wood or not painted. Quite a disappointment from Bean's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Grammiemom great chair
I had received an LL Bean Adirondack chair as a gift several years ago. One arm split and after contacting Customer Service this year, I received a replacement arm within 5 days - great service. I have purchased another chair and I love them so much, purchased another one. I put it together by myself in 30 minutes with no problems. I love the reclining angles and have already enjoyed several hours sitting in it on my deck. a wonderful addition to my outdoor space!
