I have purchased these socks for about 20 years and would not wear any other. I wear them year round and alternate between the 12" and 10", summer included. They keep my feet dry in all types of weather and keep my feet cool, even in summer. I recommend them to anyone who asks and will not purchase another brand. They also last a long time. Want a comfortable sock that you not regret purchasing? THIS is the one you want to buy. I still have four pair but will buying two more this week.

Rated 1 out of 5 by WalterWindchill Way too small!
Bean' sizing chart says size L fits shoe size 9 - 12. I wear size 10 shoes. Socks are too small -- even before washing. I regret not having read the negative reviews before ordering.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Woodman70 Holes after 5 days
LLB should now send me these socks free since I have probably bought at least 20 pairs in last 5 years. Why so many? They develop holes in the heels after about 5 wearings. No exaggeration here. But otherwise I love the socks since they are comfortable and adapt to the weather--warm in winter and not hot in summer. I am allergic to wool but these do not itch; well maybe a little before the first washing.
But DO NOT place them in the dryer. They will shrink 20 % or more.
So what to do? Just put the cost in my budget, unless LLB comes through for me. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChrisAndMilena Best gift for college kids
My college age son is in the "not wearing cloths my parents buying me" stage and was been for some time. Nevertheless, he wears holes in these socks. I been wearing them for years and buying them for them since he could fit in them. They are very comfortable, warm and great quality. Perfect for kids that stomp are campus in the snow wearing tennis shoe. lol

Rated 5 out of 5 by xcarolineno sock review, it is real.
Who writes a review of socks!? This girl. I am obsessed with these socks. You should have seen the joy on my face when they arrived in the mail. I have an extremely old pair of LLBean Ragg Wool socks that were my mom's (pretty sure I stole them from her, don't say anything), but they had worn straight through the heel. I ordered the two pack of these guys, and even though the shipping was delayed, it was well worth the wait! These are so soft and warm and cozy! I am always freezing in the winter here in NYC and along with the wool leggings from Bean's, my life is much, much toastier. I know some products from Bean's have gone down in quality over the years (can you tell I grew up in Maine?) but these remain true to the real quality LL Bean's name carries! I love these socks and I wish I had a million pairs of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gracistate great quality and so very warm!
These are hands down the best quality and warmest socks I've ever owned. I would not wear this for inside use, but outside use on the farm, they keep my feet warm and dry. Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dazy Order up a size
My husband says these are the best ever socks. But I ordered his regular size L for 10.5 shoe size and they are too small. The sock is too short in the foot, the heel area doesn't reach to his heel. He likes them enough to keep them but the next order will be for the XL.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Seve2125 The perfect sock for Minnesota winters!
I wear these socks nearly everyday in the winter here in Minnesota. They fit great under a pair of Bean boots or even a pair of mocs or boat shoes. High quality wool socks that will last you a long time. Highly recommended.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Cybele Not enough sock!
I bought many pairs of these socks all in size Extra Large as gifts for my large footed family. I also purchased some in the same size for myself.
They have been cursed by the Lycra fairy! Yes each sock is meant to be stretched from only a few inches long to the size of your foot!
this is tolerable when actively running about, but cramp inducing agony ir you want to relax in a chilly house after exercise.
If these are smushing my modestly size feet, I don't know how the size twelve and up family members even get them on.There is too much tight stretch and not enough wool.
Yes they are wooly, but not mammoth even in extra large!
