Rated 1 out of 5 by Hutley Broke on first use
I purchased this for use on an 18' Old Town Canoe using a 2.3hp Honda 4-stroke outboard. It broke on first bit of throttle up even though it is rated for 4hp. I tried to tighten the bolts holding the bracket to the x-member but they spun in place. This may work using a small eletric motor, something under 36 lbs of thrust but was useless with the motor I have.

Good value and construction but required modification to fit my Mad River Adventure 14 canoe, I had to add 5 inch bolts and replace the lower support board ( too short). I doubt if I would have found any other. Havent finished yet.

I Don't expect to use the motor mount any time sound. I bought it as a Christmas gift. It looks fine and I expect it will work well. The purchase and delivery were "swift and painless. John

This is a decent mount, although the transom board is VERY narrow and my Minn Kota barely fits with both mounting clamp contacts reaching the edge of both sides. This gives little margin for error if the mount slips in either direction. As well, the lower wooden piece is thinner than the rest, and the wood seems fairly light.
I love LL Bean and am a life-long customer, but I don't think this product is durable in the long-term. It's definitely not worth $50, so I will be retuning for refund.
Still, if you can overlook these issues and the high price for 3 pieces of wood and a few bolts, note that this is a left-hand mount, so if you're used to piloting with your right hand, it's not an option with this side-mount version.

The motor mount works well with my 30 lb. thrust electric trolling motor. The wood used to build the mount is thicker than it appeared in the product photo providing for a very stable mount. It works well as is, but I will likely trim the end angles of the board that fits under the gunwales to more closely match my particular canoe.

This motor mount works great. It is easy off and easy on. I use it on my 16' canoe with a 30 lb thrust trolling motor. It has no trouble moving the canoe quietly through the water. Great product!

This items is well constructed and arrived in a reasonable time.
In my case, I found that the lower board was too short and had to make another one. Be sure measure the space where this mount will be used and compare that to the dimensions of this mount.

The item works well but needs to be stronger for a 2hp gas engine. I already indicated to LLBean that I replaced the 1/4" carriage bolts with 3/8" to handle my engine. There is nothing in the specifications of the motor mount indicating a maximum hp for use.

Put on my 15.5ft pelican DLX explore and it worked fine other than i didnt pre trim the sides of the bottom plank to fit the gunnles and the motor fell off into the water. Lucky for me, I know always to tie a rope to your troller. So nothing was lost! will correct problem and be back out on the water this weekend.
