Rated 5 out of 5 by ChrisMc Go to Summer Shell
This is my "go-to" summer top.... modest neckline and armholes, and it covers bra straps completely!

Love the Pima cotton material; it's silky, soft, and usually keeps it's shape with minimal shrinkage. Because this is the first purchase of this tee, I hope my experience with other pima tees holds true for this shell. I ordered a sz lg after checking size guide, but didn't get as expected. Shell is close thru bust area, measures less that sz. specs. Armholes do not lie flat under arm appearing a bit too wide. Previously ordered tees have been sz large and always have fit well. What's up? Inconsistency has not been an issue with Bean orders in the past.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Mona828 Not a good fit
I purchased some of the sleeveless shells in plus size 1X earlier this summer. The fabric is good, but they need to be about 2 inches longer, and I'm not tall, just 5'6". Also, the arm holes need to be a LOT smaller! I won't be getting more of them. But the tops with sleeves are good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by EnergeticGrandma Runs small, colors may not be as shown
I usually wear a medium but after reading reviews I ordered a large. The fit is good so I suggest ordering a size up.
I ordered the arctic purple and the color is much lighter than shown, more of a lavender than a purple.
The garment had a funny smell when I opened the bag but I hope it will come out when laundered.

by jennww2ns Plus size review
I don't typically like having my photo taken but thought I had no choice with how very, very badly these tops fit.
First off, I usually wear a size 2x and that's what this top was. When I inquired about these shirts, I was told the plus sized ones had darts but they don't.
The material is medium weight but feels like it might not hold it's shape very well. The length was as described.
I ordered 2 tops ("brightwater blue" and "arctic purple") and they both fit the same.
The main issue is the arm holes. While they fit well shoulder-to-armpit, they were awful front-to-back and didn't lay flat to the body. Instead they pouched out and created these weird... wings? places to rest your thumbs?
Needless to say, I'm sending them back.
(The black you see in the side-boob area in the side view picture is my bra, not shadow.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by PictureBookPerson Perfect Basic
This is my favorite top of all time. The fabric is soft and smooth, the colors wash well, and the fit is simple and comfortable. It's a great first layer for anything from a beach walk to a dinner out. L.L.Bean has made minor changes to the styling over the years and IMHO each time has been an improvement. Truly a perfect wardrobe basic!

Rated 2 out of 5 by agatha2 The old cut is much nicer
For years I purchased size large and they fit. Now they are
slimmer through the bust and not a nice look. We older gals
tend away from the tight look. The larger size makes the armholes
too large. I hate to go elsewhere for tanks because Beans one-
stop-shopping was so easy.....and your color selection was good
except for the lack of the SOFT & PALE earth tones (brown, greens, corals etc.) I still have a few that are in perfect shape so
I will continue to enjoy those! Hard to please everyone isn't it?
I would still recommend this item to a smaller busted friend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by ColoradoWoman49 What happened to regular scoop neck tank tops?
Honestly, it's getting to where I can't buy tee shirts anymore. I'm short, petite, including a short neck. These high-cut scoops almost make me look like I'm being strangled. PLEASE bring back regular tanks with a real scoop neck, not enough to reveal cleavage, but enough to lengthen the neck. And make it a normal length, too, not these super long things that shorten the legs, bunch up around the hips and add about 10 pounds to the waist of a short, curvy lady like me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Mellycat Chest too snug, armholes too big.
I'm 100 lbs, 5'1", A-cup bra, wear loose tops and tanks with large straps.
I ordered Petite Mediums, but want a looser chest, smaller arm holes and even larger straps.
It's so hard to find decent tank tops, I'll resort to exchanging these for size extra large, then shrink them and take in the arm holes. Sigh!

I bought this pima shell years ago and had to return it because it kept shrinking. It's flimsy material and lost its shape completely. I bought it again, hoping it was improved, but alas, it was not. Sent it back.
