I've had the insulated version for 25 years or so and they are pretty much unchanged from when I bought them.
Finally decided to get the "summer" version. Just what I expected--nothing new--the same old good stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CWW10S An American Classic ~ Worth The Wait
Glad I finally purchased these boots.
Worth the wait.
I wear a size 13 shoe so I ordered size 13 knowing I will be wearing
heavy sox in the winter.
I am aware LL BEAN advises their customers to consider a size
smaller however these fit very well....besides, I knew I could
exchange them for another size if the fit wasn't right.
I have been a long time LL BEAN customer.
LL BEAN service is second to none.
These are truly an American classic.

These boots have the same features and quality of a pair I bought in the 1980's . I had them resoled by LL Bean three times before they were no longer repairable. This was much less expensive than buying new boots and made the average cost very reasonable.
Now that I am nearing retirement I have bought another pair and it is like having an old friend back. I like the brown-colored boot only as a preference. Early morning walks and recalling past years afield and in the woods will not be hampered by wet socks when I am wearing these excellent quality boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 Great Purchase
I'm really pleased with my purchase! I usually wear a men's 9 or 10 depending on brand, but after reading the reviews and advice from others I ordered an 8 regular and they fit great.

Purchased a pair of 10" Bean boots in the dark brown color. Boots took approx 2.5 months to arrive, but are awesome...well worth the wait. Fit is great, I normally wear a 9.5 and ordered a 9.

It is wonderful to be able to order a men's boot in a narrow width for the first time ever. They are snug and supportive, great for my outdoor work with a conservation group in our town.

After I messed up on the size of the Boots needed, you still took Great Care of me. This was a replacement, for Boots that I had back in College and you still sent me a brand new pair (Outstanding). Your Service is Excellent, Your Product is Excellent and your Guarantee is Excellent, how can anyone go wrong? Thank you sooo much!!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by res83 They are OK
They almost feel like wearing rubber boots, since the foot is rubber. Some implications of this are:
- Very cold in the cold (half an hour outside in the 20's leaves my toes pretty cold, even with heavy wool socks)
- Hot and sweaty indoors (tradeoff for being waterproof is that it doesn't breathe)
- Tread is ok, not as good as a traditional lugged sole, is thin and flexy like a rubber boot (thin sole makes these boots colder than they could be).
On the other hand,
+ Looks nicer than all-rubber boots
+ Made in Maine
Maybe some of this I should have expected. But I have a pair of LLBean Katahdin boots which are unlined with a nice thick leather and thick sole; they are far warmer in the cold and not sweaty indoors. I think these boots would be good for temps in the 40's and up.
I'm going to try adding wool insoles to see if that helps with the cold. Worst case scenario they can be fall/spring rain boots, but the lack of breathability means I need to keep a spare pair of shoes in the office.
For size, the store employee told me to size down one. I'm 11-11.5D, so I got a 10D. It fits pretty well with a little extra room.

by Oldoarsman 1980 Bean Boots
Received my boots as a Christmas present from my parents when I was in college back in 1979....still using them today, although they are ready for their third set of new soles. Of special note, I started wearing orthotics three years ago...they fit just fine in my boots.
I have used these boots in all sorts of situations and in all seasons....you can do no better than to purchase a pair of these.
Purchased a pair for my wife over twenty years ago...they are still going strong.
My oldest son is just breaking in his pair received at Christmas, 2013.
With proper care and conditioning of the leather, this may be the last pair of boots that you buy.
