Rated 5 out of 5áby BeanPreferrer One more trip to Quetico
I always wish for reviews from buyers that have tested products hard. I have worn these boots in the worst mud, slop, snow, rocks, brush and conditions I wished I hadn't got myself into from Ontario to the AR border. I was about to order my second pair of Bean Boots and decided my 20 year old pair could make one more trip to Quetico. Bean replaced the bottoms on them 10 years ago and I think they'll make it. I love simple, good quality and luckily Bean offers that and the only outfit that offers a narrow width for my skinny foot. I am getting a new pair this fall mainly to make sure the cobblers at Bean stay busy and assume the next pair will last me till I get to the nursing home. You won't regret buying this boot.

After owning a pair of Bean Boots for about 40 years, it was time for a new pair! I went with the 10" high boot instead of the 8" boots I bought back in the 1970's.
What I love about these boots is the leather top section has 3 rows of lockstitching that attaches it to the bottom section of the boot. Sewing together these sections insures the boots stay together, even after 40 years! I had purchased a different pair of boots some years ago in order to keep one pair in my car and one pair in my house. Those boots were glued together, not stitched as is the Bean Boot. Those boots came apart, so I was back to using my original Bean Boots again. That was when I decided to break down and get another pair of boots that have served me so well for 40 years, instead of cheaper boots.
I have had the "opportunity" to make use of my new pair of Bean Boots this early in the year. LL Bean has not cheapened the quality of the Bean Boots, and I am sure that the serviceability of these boots will out live me!
A note on size: According to some reviews of this product on this Forum, I ordered my boots a half size down. I wear a size 9 1/2 D and upon arrival I found that the size 9 were too small. I swapped them for size 10. They fit much better! The leather upper seems to be a bit tight to get on, however, once I got my feet inside, they fit perfectly, with a little extra room at the toe. I put a pair of custom inserts in these boots, after removing the insert that Bean provided with these boots, I use a light weight wool stretch sock. Great fit, quality boots!

Rated 5 out of 5áby IAM4US Very versatile boot for various weather conditions
I presently own three pairs of "bean boots". One pair is non-insulated, another is insulated and the third pair is the slip on type with a zippered front. These boots I use for various weather conditions and enjoy the comfort and fit immensely. I commend L.L. Bean for still manufacturing them in the US by American workers.

Have had my boots for several years and quality is good. However for correct fit I need to wear thick socks. That's the problem when you wear thick socks it is very hard to almost impossible to get my foot in the boot. Not worth the struggle. Therefore I can't wear them when it is cold. I don,t know if any body else has this problem? Needs to be a bigger foot opening.

Rated 5 out of 5áby cscholz6 I love this boot!
Boot fits like a glove. Being from the South, I was unsure based on sizing. I am a 10.5, but the 9 fit perfect. Overall, very solid and comfortable boot that I feel comfortable wearing for anything from yard work to the work place.

My grandfather wore these boots as far back as I can remember. He ordered me my first pair at $21.00 about 55 years ago and I was "hooked". Worn them ever since.

Rated 5 out of 5áby kjl31 Great boot overall.
This is a great boot in an overall sense. The sizing is enormously large. I wear a 10.5 shoe and a 9 boot is still very large for me. Very flexible and comfy after a week's break in. Craftmanship is great and Bean's customer service is the best in the world bar none. This boot is well worth owning a pair for rainy wet days.

Rated 2 out of 5áby tbab Good Bean, Bad Boots (second leaky pair in a row)
At this point I'm sending back my second pair of bean boots and exchanging them for a different style. Like a comment below from CHedstrom, I live and work in the Pacific Northwest and for whatever reason these boots keep filling up with water. Too bad, because I used to go to the University of Maine and always liked how everyone wears them up there. Maybe they keep the best pairs in-state? I really do like how they look (two stars for style, I'd give one star for practicality but I'm fond of them#.
I'm not sure what was wrong with them, but the same thing was wrong for both pairs: after a short walk in wet conditions #sometimes not even raining hard!# they would be wet inside. This is after a month or two of regular wear around town--both pairs of boots gave out very quickly. It seemed like--and I know this sounds impossible--the water was coming up through the bottom of the boots! Sometimes the uppers would be completely dry and my feet were still soaked, cold-water #non-sweat) soaked. From walking on sidewalks. I'm curious if that might be at the root of the issue: I didn't use them as hikers but as city boots, and maybe they aren't up for Seattle concrete. The rubber chain tread wore flat very quickly.
All that said, Bean's guarantee means I'm not upset, even if sending tons of boots back to Maine is annoying. I'm going to send back the second pair and start fresh with other LL Bean boots--not bean boots.

Great boots that definitely keep your feet dry. Unique styling provides for a classic look. They do run very big, however, so purchase smaller than you otherwise would or prepare to wear extra socks.
