Rated 1 out of 5 by GAhiker2015 Runs large, disappointed
I was so excited to order these boots finally without a backorder! Make sure to order these boots a size down, I ordered a size 9 for my husband thinking they would fit and they're huge. As soon as I opened the box I knew they were not going to fit. L.L.Bean offers free shipping the first way but if you are exchanging you still have to pay for the shipping back. Seeing as there are no stores anywhere down South for us that makes it difficult for us to guess the sizes without trying it. First time buying from L.L.Bean but probably will not be buying again because of this issue. The quality is great but for the consumer to have to guess their sizes and it be wrong can be quite the hassle!

Rated 5 out of 5 by skyeco Love these boots!
These boots are awesome! After waiting a while to order them due to popularity and back order, I finally went to my local L.L. Bean store and got my hands on a pair! I love these boots so much and have already gotten much use out of them. When ordering these boots, make sure to look at the L.L. Bean sizing suggestion (it really does help). I normally wear a solid 8 1/2 shoe size however, in the Bean Boot I wear a size 7 with a wool sock and could get away with a size 6 comfortably if I had to. The sizing definitely depends on preference I like to have a little more room so my toes aren't smushed with a sock, so I chose to get the 7. If you like a comfortable amount of room I would suggest a size down, but if you like things a little snug with a light to no sock then I would recommend 2 sizes down.

I ordered the region 8" boot. When I received them I was disappointed BUT after reading about them with included papers I purchased a pair of the Ragg socks. What a difference. They fit perfect. I liked them so well I just ordered a insulated pair

Rated 5 out of 5 by CarolinaG My husband looks forward to the rain...
I got these 8in Bean Boots for my husband in a size 8 in the Tan/Brown. He has wide feet and is usually a size 8.5, but I got him the Medium D and they fit perfect. The only thing I have to say is that he's looking forward to the rain and snow this winter! He loves how comfortable these boots are and how stylish they look. I plan on getting them for him in other colors because they were a total hit :) Only thing is I'll probably get him the insulated ones next time because he says they're not particularly warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ScottyRed Wide boot is not very wide
I know customer reviews can be frustrating because they sometimes contradict each other. I will provide the facts:
I normally wear an 11.5 wide size athletic shoe. I wear a 2E or 4E width (specifically the Mizuno Waver Rider and Asic GT series shoe).
I followed the advice on the website and went a half size down, and then another full size down because I would be wearing a mid weight sock. I also ordered the wide width. So I ended up ordering size 10, wide 2E.
The length of the boot is perfect; however, the shoe is not very wide (and I ordered the wide size). It fits more like a standard width shoe. I checked the stamp on the boot because I thought maybe they shipped me the wrong size; however, the stamp reads 10 W.
I am hoping that the boot will break in an open up a bit, but as anyone with wide feet knows, it is not a very comfortable process. Ideally, the boot would already be wide enough to start.
I am reluctant to exchange for a large size because I think anything larger would be too long.
I'll give it another week to see if the fit improves; if not, I will be returning the boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RGrouse Very Pleasantly Surprised
My wife and I have been shopping at LL Bean for 36 years. My closet is full of Double L Chinos and LL Bean shirts. Over the years I've bought everything from socks to a kayak trailer, but had never bought a pair of LL Bean Boots until this Fall.In the past I had looked at them and thought that the rubber bottoms would be uncomfortable and too hot on the feet. This fall I tried on the 6 inch model in your Freeport Store and bought the blue special edition ones. They were to replace a pair of another brand name gardening boots that didn't last through one season before the sole separated causing them to leak.
Your boots are surprisingly VERY comfortable, made possible I believe by having an excellent insole and lining fabric. They even have a nice cushioning effect at heel strike when walking on pavement. They are now my "go to" gardening and foul weather footwear. My only regret is that I didn't buy a pair 36 years sooner.
PS: You also sell the best upland game vests and jackets available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TLJArlington Great boots - a bit big
These keep my son's feet warm all over his college campus during Ohio's cold, wet, snowy winters. They run a little big - he normally wears a 12, but these boots fit him (even with thick socks) in an 11. I'd size down one when ordering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WW1968 These boots run REALLY big - pay attention!!!
Pay attention to sizing chart and order smaller than your shoe size. I wrote a review giving them 4 stars because my boots were too big. Well I just chatted with customer service and they're shipping me out a smaller size free of charge and a label to return the big ones. Best customer service on the planet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by WW1968 Surprisingly too big
I wear a 10.5 - 11 shoe. Depends on the brand, fit, style, etc. I finally decided to purchase some Bean boots for Spring/Fall wet weather. I went to the flagship store and bought the blue ones. I was told they only come in whole sizes. The 10s were too small and the 11s were too big. I was told that with the furry insoles and thick socks they'd fit perfectly. Not the case. They're too big through and through. I'm surprised they didn't come in half sizes as I just bought the amazing Storm Chaser boots in a 10.5. When it comes to waterproof, these can't be beat. I'm still figuring out a way to put something in the toe to make them fit, as I really do love the boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LLBeanBamaMan All I wanted was for my comfy boots to be resoled
and lo and behold, called a customer service agent to pay for the soles to be replaced. I even had my credit card ready to pay for this maintenance. OK, well imagine my surprise when "Boom" I was offered a brand new pair for free. Yup, this kind agent said that "she would love to send me a BRAND new pair for free." Let's see ... I have had these boots for about 4 years? And for free? I have used them to hunt in, to fish in ... even to work in around the house during muddy days. Well, ladies and gentlemen, in this day and age of skimping and/or shortcuts - this company is an prime example of genuine true fine quality. Take notice haters - this is not a gimmick. This company is the real deal and to that end, will ALWAYS be a buyer from them. Period. The end.
