I wear mine shoveling the driveway in Northern NJ, and they are perfect. I also wear them to work in NYC to avoid having a wet foot in the office. They do a great job protecting my feet from the infamous city slush. My only complaint is that my feet will actually start to sweat in them by just wearing them in the office.

Bought the unlined boot. Plan on wearing in the fall, winter, and spring. On cold days in the snow I wear Gortex socks. Works perfect. I wear a size 10.5 in most shoes and sneakers. Sized down to a 9. Perfect fit!

I haven't had a pair of boots as beautiful and comfortable as these. Absolutely worth the wait! It's wonderful to know that they will last forever.
Obligatory note to order a size down! I'm usually a size 12 - the size 11 fits me perfectly.

I received my first pair of Bean Boots in the mail recently. They are wonderful after the first week of wear. My favorite thing about them is how great they look. You can really tell that they are hand made and much better quality than factory-machine produced shoes.
They are pretty comfortable, considering they are a pair of boots. I have not had them submerged in standing water yet, but they have held up to their waterproof promise in rainy conditions so far. The traction of the boots seem to be pretty good in wet and slippery conditions too.
My only complaint is that the shoe laces are way too long. It is not a big deal, just more of an inconvenience. I am sure I can find some different shoe strings at a local store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MikeSouthernCT Really happy I bought these and Gumshoes
These boots are great. Given my job these will get a lot of weekend wear and night wear when it's cold/wet. If you're reading this review you know about the sizes already so I didn't adjust anything on those ratings although I think the width scale is on target with my normal shoes (length not even close).i wear a normal shoe 13-14 in my largest foot and a 12M is great even with Ragwool socks. I bought a pair of Gumshoes too and find myself wearing those more at nights for quick dog walks but the boots are the choice when it's really cold or raining and snow when it comes.
Lastly, I live in Southern CT and debated about lined vs unlined and went with unlined. I'm glad I did. I bought some rag wool socks for when it's really cold, but so far the boots and thin athletic socks have been fine for dog walks and normal outdoor stuff so far this year. These will be go to's for rain, light snow, and cold and my Sorel Caribou boots are there for lots of snow and winter play with the kids.
Loves these and the Gumshoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TexasYall A most excellent boot!
Dear Bean, these boots are excellent, thank you, and thank you to Elsa who made them.
To all browsing, these boots fit like boots, they run larger than your running or dress shoes. I'm a 10.5 in running and dress shoes and a 9.5 in combat boots. I ordered the 9 as per the sizing directions and these fit perfectly.
In response to the reviews that said they're not waterproof, they are. These boots are a rubber lower sewn to a leather upper with a needle and thread. Needles punch holes and water will go in them. You have to seal the seams and preferably all the leather and seams. Sno-seal is a commercial product that works. I used a combination of mineral oil and beeswax. The wax prevents the water from penetrating and the mineral oil keeps it soft enough to work with. Warm the boots near the fire then rub your wax product on. It's been raining here for weeks and my feet are still dry. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jerry19 Perfect fit
I normally wear a size 10.5 to 11 Wide(depending on the shoe). After reading all the reviews about how these boots run big. I hesitantly decided to go with the recommendation of going down a size plus the half, so I went with the size 9.
And of course they were on back order for over a month. But just after two weeks I got my boots. When I pulled them out of the box I thought...there is NO WAY these things are fitting. They fit PERFECTLY.
TRUST the recommendation on how they fit and what size you should get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Galactimax Regarding Sizing
Just got my new 8" Bean Boots in the mail last night, waited about a month due to backorder but that was to be expected. I normally wear an 11 in athletic and dress shoes and around a 10.5 in sneakers. I ordered the 10 and as time passed between ordering and receiving I got increasingly worried that I had ordered too large. As it turns out however I picked exactly right, anything smaller would have been too small and anything bigger far too big. I'm wearing them today at work with a thick pair of smartwool hiking socks but that isn't for fit so much as it is comfort while I break these in before winter gets here. I can comfortably wear them with athletic socks as well. Build quality looks great, can't wait to see how these hold up for me over the years! Just figured I'd toss my 2 cents in on the sizing thing. I would size down once and call it good after getting an average amongst your existing shoes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Bootstink These boots stink like cat urine
Both my son and I bought a pair of these a year ago. They seem to work fine however neither of us take them off in the house after wearing. That is because they stink the house out. I have never had foot odor problems and still don't except when I wear these boots. They smell like cat urine even after only a short time wearing them. I never remove them in the house (or the socks I wore with them either). I leave them out on the deck for a few hours first to let stink go away. I'm guessing it is the rubber they use in them. Whatever it is...I don't like it.
