Rated 5 out of 5 by Jerry19 Perfect fit
I normally wear a size 10.5 to 11 Wide(depending on the shoe). After reading all the reviews about how these boots run big. I hesitantly decided to go with the recommendation of going down a size plus the half, so I went with the size 9.
And of course they were on back order for over a month. But just after two weeks I got my boots. When I pulled them out of the box I thought...there is NO WAY these things are fitting. They fit PERFECTLY.
TRUST the recommendation on how they fit and what size you should get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Galactimax Regarding Sizing
Just got my new 8" Bean Boots in the mail last night, waited about a month due to backorder but that was to be expected. I normally wear an 11 in athletic and dress shoes and around a 10.5 in sneakers. I ordered the 10 and as time passed between ordering and receiving I got increasingly worried that I had ordered too large. As it turns out however I picked exactly right, anything smaller would have been too small and anything bigger far too big. I'm wearing them today at work with a thick pair of smartwool hiking socks but that isn't for fit so much as it is comfort while I break these in before winter gets here. I can comfortably wear them with athletic socks as well. Build quality looks great, can't wait to see how these hold up for me over the years! Just figured I'd toss my 2 cents in on the sizing thing. I would size down once and call it good after getting an average amongst your existing shoes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Bootstink These boots stink like cat urine
Both my son and I bought a pair of these a year ago. They seem to work fine however neither of us take them off in the house after wearing. That is because they stink the house out. I have never had foot odor problems and still don't except when I wear these boots. They smell like cat urine even after only a short time wearing them. I never remove them in the house (or the socks I wore with them either). I leave them out on the deck for a few hours first to let stink go away. I'm guessing it is the rubber they use in them. Whatever it is...I don't like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JNil GREAT!
It is absolutely crucial to consider the right sizing when ordering. I own these 8" as well as the 6" and rubber mocs. When broken in, they simply do not leave my feet during the fall and winter months. GREAT GREAT GREAT shoe. Don't get caught in the fall backordering months and order early!

This was my first purchase for the winter season this year and I know now that I made a wonderful decision. They do run a little bit, but I have wiggle room and room for thicker socks when it becomes unbearably cold. The boots are comfortable and so stylish and I was so pleased when I first wore them! Thanks L.L. Bean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by EricinCLT Bean Boots Crush Ireland
Had a trip planned to Ireland for earlier this month and knew I needed a good boot for the rural (read that: rocky and wet) terrain. Looked at several different brands and decided to give these boots a whirl - best decision of the year! Any reservations you may have about these guys being uncomfortable or too hot should be discarded immediately. Seriously, I looked forward to throwing these bad boys on each morning to hit the coast, the mountains, and the city. An American classic that will keep you comfortable, dry and sure-footed no matter the terrain. Take their suggestion and go down a size and wear with some nice, wool socks.
Stop looking and buy these boots. Thank me later.

Rated 1 out of 5 by GAhiker2015 Runs large, disappointed
I was so excited to order these boots finally without a backorder! Make sure to order these boots a size down, I ordered a size 9 for my husband thinking they would fit and they're huge. As soon as I opened the box I knew they were not going to fit. L.L.Bean offers free shipping the first way but if you are exchanging you still have to pay for the shipping back. Seeing as there are no stores anywhere down South for us that makes it difficult for us to guess the sizes without trying it. First time buying from L.L.Bean but probably will not be buying again because of this issue. The quality is great but for the consumer to have to guess their sizes and it be wrong can be quite the hassle!

Rated 5 out of 5 by skyeco Love these boots!
These boots are awesome! After waiting a while to order them due to popularity and back order, I finally went to my local L.L. Bean store and got my hands on a pair! I love these boots so much and have already gotten much use out of them. When ordering these boots, make sure to look at the L.L. Bean sizing suggestion (it really does help). I normally wear a solid 8 1/2 shoe size however, in the Bean Boot I wear a size 7 with a wool sock and could get away with a size 6 comfortably if I had to. The sizing definitely depends on preference I like to have a little more room so my toes aren't smushed with a sock, so I chose to get the 7. If you like a comfortable amount of room I would suggest a size down, but if you like things a little snug with a light to no sock then I would recommend 2 sizes down.
