This is the FIFTH Healthy Back Bag I've purchased, but the first one in leather. I absolutely love this bag. All of the little pockets and zippered pockets hold so much stuff. This one is smaller than the fabric bags I'd bought before and I really wish I'd gotten the larger one, but this one is excellent for everyday use. I'll use my bigger ones when I am travelling. My favorite feature of the bag, of course, is the comfort of carrying it on my shoulder....never the strain of a regular shoulder bag, no matter how much stuff I put in it. The leather one also holds its shape very well.

I have purchased several of these leather medium Healthy Back Bags and I Love them. Having had lower back surgery in the distant past, I particularly like that this bag IS easy on my back. (that is a large Plus) I love the easily accessible pockets inside and outside, the connectors for keys and the small accessory bag that I hang from the top..Nice after thought, that is...Very handy. I like the two-taloned zipper making it easy to access from top, bottom or middle--My choice. Thank You, L.L.Bean for such a comfortable, pocket-convenient, easy on my back, BAG!

Great bag. One improvement would be to make the inner zipped pocket a little larger so that my wallet easily fits in for that added layer of protection in crowded locations.

I had purchased a fabric version of this healthy back bag about six years ago and I just loved it. Earlier this year one outside pocket started fraying and I thought I had given it enough wear and needed a new bag. I thought I'd try the leather version. It is very nice looking and is very comfortable on my shoulder and back. It is bigger than I thought it would be, but that gives me lots of room for stuff. I am a reporter and I carry all my paper and pens and camera and phone and agendas in the bag and still have room for more. I could put my jammies in there if I thought a meeting would last into the early morning hours. I'm kidding, but my jammies would fit.

Outstanding bag, I would highly recommend I purchased the reg. size and use it to carry items to the car (wallet, glasses, etc. ) . My only problem was the price I had been looking at this bag for years and the price stopped me from buying it. Finely broke down and wish I had when I first saw it. Love the bag does what I wanted it to.

pastapita Underside of Strap has Peeled off
I have had this purse for about 3 years now. Used it all last summer and the 'non-slip' material that is on the underside of the strap has all peeled off now. Would have been better to have an all leather strap. Loved the rest of the purse, easy on the should and back, perfect size, holds everything I need it to but can not recommend this purse because it costs so much only to have the strap peel off. It is very noticeable because I got the saddle color. It just looks nasty now and I don't want to carry it anymore.

Although I have over a dozen of these bags in size small, this is my first purchase in size regular. (see other review) I'm 5'2" and this size overwhelms my short frame. However, I purchased this size for day trips with my husband. He won't mind carrying this bag because it's comfortable to carry, well made quality leather, great organization and is not too feminine looking. At last, I won't have to carry his wallet, cell phone, keys and sunglasses along with my own.
LLBean, Thank you for my favorite bag of all time. A Suggestion: I own the leather size small version in four colors, how about introducing a new color every year. I would purchase it in navy, red, gray, etc.

L L Bean has come up with a winner with this purse. I love all of the pockets inside and out. There's even a place to fasten my keys so I always know where they are instead of hunting through my entire purse. Now they have added a new type of covering to the strap so it stays much better on your shoulder. It is roomy and easily handles all of the essentials!

The size small is just perfect for all of the "things" I want/need to carry. The inside has so many compartments, it is so easy to organize. The outside compartments are just right for the items you want to access quickly. I love the two key ring holders. It also feels very comfortable when you carry it on your shoulder.
