Rated 4 out of 5 by blackmountaineer Huge Waist but Otherwise Great
I have bought these for years, for sleeping, and love the way the pants feel and endure. The care is easy (I hang them up to dry.) The cuffs keep the legs down in place. But in the past few years the shape changed, and not for the better. I have a regular-sized waist-to-rump ratio, (I am not tiny-waisted nor huge-hipped) and these newer pants fall off my waist. Otherwise I love them, and have found none better. What to do? I take in the waist - I actually sew it up, so the waistband overlaps in the back by a good 2 to 3 inches. And I don't tolerate a tight fit at the waist either. Why oh why are the designers making them so large at the top? There are plenty of women who need more room at the waist, so why not make two shapes? It's a little ridiculous to pay a considerable sum, then to sit down with the mending basket before wearing the item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CoolUma Feeling the chill?
I'm very pleased that I purchased these. When they arrived, I immediately washed them in cold water, regular detergent & fabric softener. Low dried. Wanted to wear them the next day. Once I got them on I realized they were worth every penny. Wore them all day to the local zoo in chilly, damp weather & surely felt as warm as the polar bear looked. I am 5'3", 145 lbs. The medium regular fit just fine. They do not ride up on the ankles & are comfortable around the waist. They fit well under my normal pants. Not at all itchy as some might think about wool. I'm sure to find many opportunities to wear them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RedCardinal12 Toasty, slim leg fit, baggy booty
I am 5'7 and 140 lb. I bought the medium and these pants are quite baggy in the booty/ come up really high. When I washed and dried them they shrunk to the perfect booty fit! great for me but watch out they will shrink if you dry them! They are quite warm and I like how the legs are fitted.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Antigone They DO run big!
I'm glad I read the other reviews warning about how big these run! I originally ordered the large size, because I am going to use them as pj bottoms and didn't want them tight. They were HUGE! Even after washing, and drying, they swam on me. So I did a quick exchange for the mediums and although they are still a bit baggy (especially in the lower belly, crotch area) they are fine, and toasty, for pjs. The cotton lining is soft, and they really are warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Scoutpenny So far, so good!
I just got a pair of these in the wine color. I wore them as pajama bottoms last night. Due to all the reviews stating these ran big I bought a small. I am 5'6" tall and weigh about 125 pounds. They fit quite well and if I were going to wear them under pants they would most definitely not be too baggy.
They are warm, comfy and cozy.
I did have to immediately cut out one of the 3 (!) tags now found in all Bean clothing...this one being the long, scratchy 2-inch tag written in French on one side. It is very irritating to the skin and I wish those tags could be excluded.
Today I am going to order another pair...this time in the winter white. However, this time I am going up a size to a medium because as pajama bottoms I wouldn't mind them looser. Again, not sure why there are so many reviews stating that these run so big!
I will see how the pair I have now in small does after washing. If they shrink they might feel too snug for sleeping in. And as I always write in my reviews, I won't put them in the dryer. Anything LL Bean makes with cotton in it these days, generally shrinks too much in the dryer for my liking. This may turn into a 5-star review but until I wash them I think 4 seems fair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by HorseRider2 These sag!
I have no issue with the material or weight of these pants, but they were long from the crotch to the waist and sagged (I ordered size Small). The length was perfect. (I'm 5'1" and 140 lbs).
I wore them under fleece riding pants as well as jeans and had to constantly pull the pants up because the the extra material kept pulling the outer pants down.
I would recommend them to people who are a little longer from crotch to waist~
I have returned them and hope that another style in Petite will work for me.

These are amazing! So warm, soft and well made. Fit was perfect, and love the attention to detail of how the cuffs were made.
Would so purchase these again for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AuntieTia comfortable double-layer pants!
These pants are toasty and soft. I bought the wine color and it is lovely. I usually wear petite length, so yes, these are a little long but the cuffed ankles work just fine. I'm wearing them as jammies on cold nights and love them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ecmd great fit for apple shape bodies
I can see what all the fuss is about the waist on these pants.
They work great for me--I carry weight in my mid section, so they are not HUGE, nor are they TIGHT. I am intolerant of tight elastic waistbands, so I was somewhat hesitant to buy these, but they are perfect. They are warm and cozy and not itchy and the legs fit at the bottom so they don't ride up in bed the way regular pajamas do. They also aren't excessively long, which tends to be my problem with pants of any kind. I've worn them to bed a few nights and really enjoy them.
For reference, I am women's size 8-10 dress size, jean size 31", and hip 38" and I am 5'5" and the MEDIUM fit just right on me. The fit in the lower belly and hips is somewhat loose--not fitted--which I like, but I would not say they are huge given my body type, and I do not like fitted pants to wear to bed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sledmaine great long underwear
5'6 58 yr old snowmobiling, snowshoeing, x-country skiing woman who is not a stick. I have bought these for 40 yrs to wear snowmobiling and all other winter sports - the waist is larger than it used to be and thank goodness as it used to be too tight. But these are my go to long underwear and have kept me warm in 100 mph winds and -25 degree temps in Canada snowmobiling the Gaspe Peninsula in January. I wouldn't buy anything else for long underwear and they last forever - my old ones from 20 yrs ago are still in use. they do not itch, they are not skin tight and are not meant to be - please never change them - if you want to fit something under skinny jeans - go buy the silk stuff - these are meant for real winter sports people so don't go asking for them to be changed. I want to be able to buy these again when I'm 85 and still playing in the snow. They have extra room because skin tight does not keep you warm. Just ask me as I've worn them at -20 x-country skiing also. Great longies. never change them.
