Rated 4 out of 5 by todtodjoh Very nice jacket
This is a great looking and perfect fitting jacket. My only complaint
is the inferior quality lining. The first jacket was returned due to lining pulling apart despite gentle handling.L L bean replaced it with no problem. The replacement gave me the same problem.L.L. Bean again replaced it within 3 days of my phone call advising them of the problem.I wish they could find a supplier that would put a durable lining in this nice a jacket. Great customer service they REALLY stand behind their product, but replacing these jackets yearly must be expensive for them.I would like a jacket I could break in and keep.I hope for a better lining.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sunbonnet Husband loves it!
This is a great jacket - warm, comfortable, and sharp-looking. My husband loves it so much he can't wait for cold weather to wear it, and I love how it looks on him! Since he wants it to last forever, he keeps it in a flat box under the bed rather than putting it on a hanger; it's a heavy garment and he doesn't want it to get wear marks inside from a hanger. This is actually his third Flying Tiger jacket, having gotten the first one in 2004...we had to exchange the first one because the fabric inside wore through near the shoulders. At that point, after getting the second jacket in 2009, he decided not to put it on a hanger any more. Recently he discovered that the same thing was happening to the second jacket, and we returned it about two weeks ago. We were told that it was defective, and were able to exchange it for another new one. (This time he opted for a larger size so he'll be able to wear a heavy shirt under it if needed.) We have to say that we love the customer service at LL Bean! They do what they promise, if the product doesn't perform as it should, they'll exchange it or refund your money, no matter how long since the purchase, and they're very nice about it, too. We'll be loyal customers for life!

I've had my jacket for over 20 years. Do not want to be without it. Lining was tearing. Returned it for a no question replacement. What more can you ask for? Thank you LL Bean. This is why you remain my favorite retailer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LeroyJ Good looking jacket!
I ordered the "tall" version of this jacket, and am glad I did. I am tall, and the sleeves on this jacket are great. They do not ride up on my writs as some jackets do. Also, I ordered the Thinsulate version, and it did not add a lot of bulk to the jacket. Of course it is not winter yet, but the feel of the jackets ensures me it will keep me nice and warm this winter. The jacket looks good, feels good and could not be any more pleased. I hope it will provide me with many years of use.

My husband normally wears XL in LL Bean outerwear. As an example, he has two parkas in XL that fit him really well. This jacket just barely zipped up. He wanted a winter jacket that would be warm on its own but could accommodate a lightweight vest or sweater, if need be. The jacket was returned the day after he tried it on. I also felt the jacket looked like it cost a lot less than it did. It didn't look like a fine leather jacket which I felt it should given the cost of the jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CotoMike Bomber Jacket for many Occasions
Overall, this is a good jacket that can be used in casual to business smart dress situations. It is a little heavier than I expected but that's California's fault; never quite that cold. A true bomber jacket look that's very versatile to wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ironic1 Unsurpassed Exterior Quality
When I first got the jacket I was disappointed because, being unfamiliar with goatskin, I expected something soft and pliable. Instead it was stiff, shiny, and somewhat restrictive. So I wiped it with common boot oil found at the local grocery. Three applications spaced over a couple of weeks made it increasingly pliable and less restrictive. After the third application, the jacket had softened up and become a little more rooming for a fleece underneath when needed. Also at this point the jacket was starting to look and feel like it had been tailored for me exclusively. I then sprayed it with Armour All and buffed it, which gave it a nice subtle patina and made the leather look really good. Over time I became very impressed with the quality and tailoring of the jacket. After a winter of casual wear the lining started to wear thru at the seams. I sewed those spots and applied glue. At some point the liner and trim will have to be replaced-- sooner than one should expect. The interior of the jacket simply doesn't match the exterior which seems to set the standard for this type of jacket. You might pay more, but I really don't think you'll find a better jacket of this type. To sum up, if properly maintained, this is a jacket you can love over a lifetime.
