by chrisjj Lining fraying at the bottom after one year
I bought this item (the uninsulated version) just over a year ago, and while I have been happy with the appearance and comfort, wearing it most days during the winter, I noticed just yesterday that the lining is fraying at the bottom of the jacket with some holes appearing. For sure the lining is obviously low quality and so I'm not surprised this is happening. I will be contacting Customer Service to see if anything can be done about this.

...is wearing this jacket. I bought it more than a year ago as a replacement to the insulated model I had for over 20 years. The old one had some how become too short for me so I waited for a sale and decided to give the uninsulated one in a larger size a try.
I was very pleased with the fit, style and performance. It was warm enough on it's own for the most part but there is enough room to wear a sweatshirt underneath without being bulky even if I don't wear the extra layer. I was willing to overlook the fact that the snap closure on the right hand pocket arrived damaged but somehow over time the inside pocket tore. As I'm not shy about taking Bean up on their 100% guarantee, I returned it to their store at a nearby mall. The staff is always great (as are the folks I've dealt with over the phone) and they took it back for an exchange with no problem. I was told that it wouldn't be available until sometime in July but as snow storms are rare around here at that time of year, that wasn't a problem either.
The replacement actually arrived ahead of schedule in excellent condition so now I'm ready for the cold weather again. But not looking forward to it.

As with all LL Bean products, the beautiful jacket is well made. I am 100% pleased with my purchase.

I have owned my jacket for a number of years and it has worn well. Recently the lining began to wear out and a few gaps appeared where the lining met the jacket. I contacted LL Bean and they were able to repair the lining so it is better than new. My GREAT leather jacket now has great wear on the outside and a great lining on the inside. I LOVE LL BEAN.

I was hesitant of purchasing a jacket online but llbean did not disappoint. I received it a day before it's scheduled delivery. It was everything I hoped and expected from llbean. In fact I'm wearing it as I write this... I'm like Linus with his blanket. The jacket is comfortable and wears nicely on the shoulders. I'm 6"1' about 210 and the large is a perfect fit. My only gripe is the pic of the weathered jacket on the site is not accurate. The color is lighter, but that suits me just fine

This jacket was purchased to replace a very old leather bomber
jacket. It is very roomy, I ordered an XL but possibly could have used a large. I am six feet and 175 lbs. It seems to be well made. The only problem for me is that it is heaver. a little longer and stiffer than I would have liked. If I had it to do over I would have purchased a lambskin jacket that was a little shorter. Great jacket but heavier and stiffer than I would have liked.

Quality and good looks but the zipper is sharp and very unpleasant against your neck. I may get out my Dremmel and polish the upper zipper or return it.

Best of the 3 Leather WWII Pilots Jackets that I have owned. The jacket's fit, comfort, leather quality, and heavy zipper all deserve 5 stars IMHO. I wear it every day lately in the frigid snow & below freezing temps in Massachusetts. And I have worn it shoveling snow for a several hours, and actually worked up a sweat because this jacket held in my body temps so well ..

I was looking for a tall sized leather jacket (I'm 6'5") and you might be surprised at how few there are on the market. I had an old leather bomber jacket that, while still wearable, after about 25 years had gotten kind of decrepit looking. It was time to replace.
Bean's Flying Tiger jacket was one of the very few I found. Three years ago, I bought the dark brown one. It wore like iron - after three years, the leather still looks brand new. I have no doubt that the jacket would last decades. Um, except for the lining. A few other reviews mentioned this also, so I hope that it's been corrected. The lining almost completely pulled away from the shell just above the label. This is why I only gave it four stars.
However, the story doesn't end there. I called and explored options with the Bean customer service. In the end, I chose to return my old jacket for credit and bought a new one in the Weathered Leather.
The new one is beautiful, well made and very nice looking. I don't understand the comments about the leather from other reviewers. Mine looks great. My hope and expectation is that the issue with the lining have been corrected and I'll get as much service from this jacket as I did from the old one that I had worn out.
Five stars for customer service. I sent the one with the lining issues back in the shipping material that the new one came in, and the credit was processed within a couple of days of arrival back at Bean. They really do stand behind their products.

Given LL Bean's quality merchandise, I was really surprised when I received this jacket in the mail. The color -- a pale, ugly brown -- was nothing like what it looks like on the LL Bean website, and it felt like plastic, not leather. The fit was a bit odd, too. The sleeves were puffy. I sent it back immediately.
