LL Bean Jacket, leather, flying tiger, TA 187483.
I bought this jacket, in the tall size, for my 6?-2? husband. It fit perfectly; the waist on the jacket fell right where it should ? at the waist. Tall people have that problem with the waist; if they don?t get a jacket sized for tall individuals, the waist hits them at the center chest.
It looks great on him; it is a great jacket to wear to work with khakis and a white shirt with loafers, or with just plain jeans and a flannel shirt on weekends. I did look around at other internet sites, trying to find a Tall jacket, and LL Bean is the only one that sells this type of jacket for tall-sizing.
Then, to go along with the jacket, you get LL Bean?s fabulous (and I DO MEAN FABULOUS) customer services, as well as workmanship.
The feel of the leather is soft and supple. No problems there.
Being a hobby seamstress, I carefully examined the seams on the jacket before I gave it to my husband.
On the outside, on the leather, I looked for missing stitches, uneven seams, on the front, back, arms, cuffs, etc; The seaming is perfect; I would say I did it myself ? but LL Bean has its label in an obvious place, on the inside, so I can?t lie about it.
I examined the zipper quality -- and found it to be a quality YKK zipper. Not a cheaper, look-alike version that might snag or loose teeth so it wouldn?t zip properly in 6 months or so. It is brass ? it survived my magnet test !!
In the lining of the jacket, I examined the ?weight? of the fabric used for that lining, threads per inch, as well as the seam allowance allotted, where two pieces of fabric join, as at the arms, by pinching the fabric together.
The fabric weight on the lining is substantial ? not light weight. Light weight fabric would wear through in one season. Plus, cheap light-weight fabric would allow thread and fabric separation where the seams are joined in such areas as the arms, back, etc.
Given the weight, this lining seems like it would be good for a long time with no wear through, or pull-through at stress points.
Also, by pinching the lining seam together, I was able to feel the seam allowance allotted by the manufacturer ? and seam allowance tells me, whether the manufacturer skimped in places where a buyer would not be able to notice the workmanship so easily, or if the manufacturer was REALLY interested in doing the job right, by allowing enough fabric to sew the two pieces together, so that they would STAY together. Seam allowance is perfect.
So, LL Bean, see what quality inspection your jacket had to pass in this house?
They don?t get any pickier than me !!!!
This jacket is a top-quality job, LL Bean.
Thanks again. It is why I keep coming back to you, for essentials.

Finally found a very good leather jacket. Jacket seems exceptionally well made. The leather is very supple. Pocket capacity is nice (thought I wish the side pockets were a bit deeper). The inside pocket is a nice practical touch.
Everything about the jacket seems well made. I look forward to wearing the jacket and seeing how it holds up.

Well constructed, comfortable, and stylish. Had initially purchased the M insulated, but at 6 foot and 175 pounds just too tight a fit. Returned the M and purchased a L uninsulated. Very comfortable and enough room for a sweater.

I retired my 1993 vintage LLBean Flying Tiger jacket in November, 2012 and purchased the new version. After 4 months of wear, the thin acetate body lining began to separate. This jacket was replaced by LLBean with one where the left sleeve was 3/4" longer than the right and was cut improperly such that it was binding under the arms; this, too, was returned and replaced by LLBean.
Also, the fiber content of the jacket is not as advertised either on the catalog or online. Catalog indicates that the waistband is composed of "76% wool/18% nylon/6% Lycra". In actuality the content of the first jacket and both replacements were tagged as 65% wool, 32% polyester, 3% Lycra. Caveat emptor.

What can you really say...its an LL BEAN product and as always, outstanding quality, fit and materials! This jacket exceeds all my expectations as a quality jacket. LL BEAN continues to set the benchmark standard in outdoor clothing! I am impressed. Jacket fits very well, sleeve length excellent, pockets are positioned just right. I have been wearing this uninsulated jacket in the frosty pre-spring days in Central New York (temps in the upper 20's and 30's) and its very comfortable and warm with a sweather. Oh yes the sweather is LL BEAN too.

Both my husband and I are regular LL Bean customers. He ordered a Large, Black, Uninsulated, Flying Tigers jacket. His measurements are approx 5'7", 185 lbs, 35" waist, shirt sleeve length 33", stocky build. We were undecided between L and XL. The Large is a perfect fit. As expected, very high quality jacket. Very heavy goatskin (but not hot), which is perfect for the motorcycle. The uninsulated is great for anything he would want to be riding in down to about 50-55 degrees. The snaps under the collar keep it down when riding. Small suggestions for a a future version: The jacket is long (so it doesn't ride up) and that is good. However, I would add a two-way zipper to allow the jacket to be open at the bottom when it is warmer or when sitting. It would be great if the jacket back was one-piece leather instead of two. A snap-on fleece collar option would be great. These are very minor issues. The jacket is a full-on 5 stars.

I bought this jacket in black for my husband because he needed a winter jacket. I wanted to get the insulated style, but he didn't. We live in Alabama, so it looks like he was right. The uninsulated jacket is perfect for our weather. It's a good looking jacket he loves it. Even without insulation it keeps him warm and cozy.
Now he wants the motorcycle to go with it;-)

I bought the uninsulated jacket. The inside of the jacket comes with a silky thin lining that makes for easy on and off. Absolutely the best leather jacket I have ever owned. I am 6' 220 with a 44 inch waist. When I recieved the xlarge jacket I couldn't decide if the fit was right and thought maybe a large would be better for me. I ordered the large and it was a touch too small. I kept the xlarge and sent the large back they credited my card within a week. Excellent service!! I can't say enough good things about LL Bean they are a quality operation, I just love the service and the products!!

The jacket is a beautiful piece of work - as you would expect from Bean. It should last a couple of generations. It IS a bit heavy - i.e., thick leather. Which is good but be prepared. It really ain't a fashion statement. But I will love it - when we finally get some cold weather here in central Texas

Rated 4 out of 5 by ProJeff Nice fit and supple leather
This was a gift for my significant other. We had to exchange a couple times to get the size right, but this jacket is lovely. The leather is supple but not too delicate. The color isn't as dark as I was expecting; I order the distressed finish. Very fine jacket.
