Rated 5 out of 5 by Cappy22 Leather Flying Tiger jacket, Uninsulated
This is my favorite purchase for a long time. I have been pondering buying this kind of jacket and decided because of the quality, reputation, and review write up offering the three choices of style in the LL Bean Catalog. This is my first choice of wear during these Tennessee winter months. The fit and finish of the jacket are first class; the uninsulated choice is perfect and provides all-around wear usage without being cumbersome. The quality will provide me many years of use while aging with me.

My Grandfather was a Flying Tiger, and he would have loved to have been wearing an LL Bean Flying Tiger Jacket during his service. I've been wearing your jacket for over twenty years and recently purchased my second unlined in weathered leather after returning a $2,000 designer lambskin jacket. I prefer the goatskin over all other leathers available for this type jacket, the YKK zipper is heavy duty, overall jacket looks better than advertised. I receive compliments on it all the time. Great Jacket!

Rated 5 out of 5 by littleossippeguy Awesome jacket second jacket since 12/13 read why
I bought the Flying Tiger Leather Jacket at the Freeport store in Dec 2013, I also have a picture in another review with me wearing it.
The jacket is very comfortable and took about 2 months after wearing it most every day to really break in. Cool looking jacket and I get many compliments.
I recently had a disappointing issue where as the lining in the jacket had about a 6 inch rip in it on the upper left hand side where the inner pocket is where you may put a wallet or cell phone. The funny thing is I never even used the inner pocket. I was quite surprised on how the lining just ripped for no apparent reason. I am very careful with all of my personal belongings so it was not abused at all.
However, this is why I love L.L.Bean and buy all my clothing from them. I returned the jacket at the Manchester outlet store in N.H. and I explained what had happened and showed the manager the jacket. This happened last week.
They apologized as if it were there fault. I smiled and said, "No worries." They immediately took the coat back and assured me of there policy If your not totally satisfied we will take it back. In deed they did.
I had them look up on the computer when I purchased it so it was in Dec of 2013. So they obviously new that it was still a relatively new jacket and could see how it had a defect. Needless to say. The manager called on the phone right away to the Freeport store to re-order me another jacket and I was told I would have it within 4 days delivered to my door.
Well, I got the jacket in two days!! Brand new and it looks great. I hope the lining does not tear again but, I believe it was an isolated incident.
So the fact is folks. L.L.Bean backs up what they say. They sell excellent quality of clothing and all the phone support staff, sales staff are awesome people.
I ask you this, Where else can you buy a fine leather Flying Tiger Jacket and return it almost a year later due to the lining ripping? Absolutely no where but, L.L.Bean. So I encourage you if your thinking about buying this jacket GET IT. You won't be disappointed many people comment on it and its great quality leather.
And.. If you don't have the L.L. Bean credit card get one. They give you extra bonus dollars to spend at L.L. Bean with purchases. A win win situation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TexasHuntingGuide Overall ok, needs a heavier liner
I finally pulled the trigger and bought the flying tiger uninsulated jacket after doing some exhausting research for about 2 years. this jacket overall seemed to give the most quality for the money, and the money is considerable. I understand that you get what you pay for and so the one thing I think that really needs to be reflected in that saying is the inner liner. premium goat skin was used for the shell and its very nice don't get me wrong as well as the cuffs, super thick, but the liner is where this company cheaped out. Why? I really wanted to give 5 stars but I just couldn't. If anything goes wrong with this jacket in the next 5-7 years ill be sending it back. For this kind of money you would expect a carrier lasting jacket, not a 2 or 3 season jacket.

Excellent quality leather. Superior detail in stitching. Good weight (3# in size medium). Runs about one size larger than normal. I wear a large in everything from LLB, but the medium is very roomy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jerryb2339 The Classic Leather Jacket that is timeless
I have the uninsulated Flying Tiger jacket as I live in California and don't need the insulation. The distressed model is just perfect - not too much - just enough. I have about a dozen leather jackets (ranging from a couple of hundred dollars to several over a thousand), and this is my go-to leather. I wear this many times more than the others and it just gets better and better with every wearing. The size runs true to LL Bean standards. Is it expensive? Not when you consider you will wear this jacket for the rest of your life - it will last forever with virtually no upkeep necessary - the goatskin seems to remain soft and doesn't crack even if it gets dry. And the knit used on the cuffs and waistband are EXTREMELY high quality and mine have never "pilled." I cannot imagine owning a leather jacket without either including this one, or if you only want one, choosing this style - LL Bean's leather bomber is the best and most classic example of the leather bomber.
