Rated 1 out of 5 by doowla advertise as 14oz wool, ONLY 8.9oz wool
The fit and finish of product is fine. However, I purchased what I believed was a 14oz wool product as shown on website. Received the guide shirt and compared to another shirt I own, that I know is made with 11.5 oz wool. Guide shirt is much thinner.
Called and confirmed by corporate, the guide shirt is made with 8.9oz wool. VERY DIFFERENT. NOT THE WEIGHT OF WOOL ADVERTISED

Rated 5 out of 5 by LucyH Very happy with purchase
Not only did my purchase come in the mail soon after I ordered it, but the product itself is exactly what I hoped. I bought this shirt because a friend owned one that I really liked. When this came in the mail I noticed that it's a slightly lighter material that my friend's, but it's better for it. The light material is still warm and comfortable but not as bulky and stiff as my friend's. I'm so glad that I finally made the purchase; I wear it more often than I would have expected!

It's warm and wooly and wonderful. I love this shirt! The cloth is heavy and rugged, really good quality. Perfect for a New England winter.

My granddad always wore one of these shirts, and when I gave one to my brother this year, my dad was envious. I was thrilled when I was able to purchase one for him for Christmas, and Dad was thrilled! He is nearly 88 and walks 2 miles a day, and I know this shirt will keep him warm on the trails here in Georgia. The wool is absolutely beautiful, and I know wearing it brings memories of his own dad back to him. A sweet hug from the past for a dear father. Thank you for continuing to make this handsome shirt. It never goes out of style!

This is a great shirt for me to wear under the wool vest. It is extremely warm and allows me to wear a lighter blaze orange shell or field jacket when I am hunting in cold weather.

Really warm shirt, does just what I wanted it to do at a reasonable price--have you seen some of the other wool shirt prices???
My only complaint is the liner on the neck should go up higher; the fold in the collar rubs you neck rather well if your jacket etc. is buttoned up. Its a small thing, maybe a silk turtleneck would help but I would appreciate it and buy another shirt if they modified it.
Well sized especially for other heavier undershirts that are part of the winter in the Northeast.

Very nice outer wear. My only disappointment is that I didn't notice that it was dry clean only in the catalog. I know there are wools that are washable and suggest that this type of material be offered in the future as it would probably sell much better to more customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by eriefisher Best bang for the buck
I bought this shirt after a fairly lengthy internet search that revealed it to be the best bang for the buck. I wanted a shirt, not an outer-layer jacket, so I ordered a medium, which is smaller than the large or x-large I sometimes order for layering. I was pleased with the fit, tho it was too tight in the underarm for any kind of layering other than a liner t-shirt. But that's what I wanted. The shirt was thinner than I anticipated, but it will probably wick faster that way, which is fine with me because it will used mostly for fishing. The color is beautiful. Haven't worn it to my next cold-weather fishing destination yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CaribouKid Only thing that kept me warm and dry!
Late August/early Sept. 2013 I spent 7 days camping and hunting on a ridge top in the Yukon-Charley River Preserve where my friends and I endured ceaseless wind, rain, sleet and snow. All of my synthetic garments, most costing much more than this shirt, became wet, never dried and were pretty much worthless (I'm returning those items to their manufacturers). The only item of clothing that kept me warm and comfortable was the Maine Guide Shirt that I bought just for this caribou hunt. I've always been a big fan of wool but, like many others, was seduced by the sexiness of the latest-greateast synthetics. If I did not have the Maine Guide shirt with me, my hunt would have ended early - I was that wet and miserable. Thanks for this shirt...I'm buying another and never leaving home on a fall/winter hunt without it.
