Bought four Adirondack chairs, two footrests, and two end tables in 2008. Felt like major investment, but fun drive to Freeport, and we suckered my younger brother into helping with the involved assembly. The fun stopped there! Bummed at having to return two of the chairs and one of the footrests. Wood not holding up, paint cracking, support pieces coming off. Product description not accurate regarding expectations for wear over time.

I purchased two of the chairs several years ago and take care with them. The selling factor was the color choice at that time, I ordered two of the Poppy colored chairs and I still love the color. Problem is the chairs are quite heavy/clumsy to handle even with the wheel kits that I ordered for them. Also the weight of the chair itself seems to cause screw and hinge areas to loosen up quickly. Long story short, they need maintenance. Best used on a covered porch where moisture doesn't cause wood vs. moister issues.

I bought these chairs a few years ago. I never write reviews but I felt compelled to write one for these chairs. I was happy when I first purchased them but over the years they have begun to fall apart. We have also cared for these extremely well. We live in the Northeast and we bring them in each fall and store them inside for the long winter. We clean them every Spring, a couple of times throughout the Summer and then again before we put them away for the Fall. I just finished cleaning them and I have to say I'm really dissapointed with the quality of them.... the screws/nails are rusted and the paint is "warbled" (has become bumpy in parts) and is peeling in places. Mold accumulates very easy so you must clean, clean clean these chairs. With the design of these, it is very tricky to do so. Despite taking really good care of these chairs, they look awful. We will have to purchase a new pair in the Spring. You can bet we will not be buying them from LL Bean!

We have always been pleased with every LLBean product we have ordered for over forty years.
But these chairs were a HUGE waste of money. They didn't hold up even two seasons. The "all-weather paint guaranteed to last for many years" began to crack the first season we used them. We used them for a second season, but things only went downhill. The "durable" paint cracked and peeled before the season was over.
We DO NOT RECOMMEND them at all. The wood did not appear to be good quality enough to sand down and even attempt to repaint. Very disappointing.

I'm shocked at the poor quality of this furniture and ll bean actually sells it. I have always had a positive view of the quality of products from ll Bean but not anymore. I bought 2 adirondak chairs and a end table with weather resistant painted oak finish which was advertised as durable lacquer finish, I put them at the end of our dock, they looked just like the catalog picture. Charming with our new house as a backdrop. Immediately they began to weather, peel, fade, and became rickety, wobbly and unsightly! I'm afraid to sit in them. I Consider these chairs as expensive disposable furniture because I have to replace them after 2 seasons(June-August). They are stored inside 10 months out of the year

Rated 1 out of 5áby kokoju Four years maybe.
Not the quality I expect from llbean. After four years the seat collapsed and exposed rotten wood on an otherwise perfectly fine looking chair. It was a surprise to see that there was anything wrong. The chair sat out winters but in a protected area of the deck. Not worth $200.

I love L.L.Bean and adirondack chairs are usually solid chairs however these particular models started chipping and rotting away after a couple winters...
They were comfortable, are nice looking when new but I'm returning them and am not sure what I'll buy in their place. They are described as all weather, so I didn't bring them in thinking they'd survive but unfortunately they didn't.

I have a pair of the white LLBEAN Classic Wooden Adirondack Chairs with side tables from about 15 yrs. ago that were really good until a few years ago. They were left out in the weather year round and only sanded/repainted once. I bought two new chairs and side tables thinking they would be of the same quality. Unfortunately, the newer version is of very poor quality overall, growing mold and some sort of a fungus that looks like shelf mushrooms on them on a regular basis. Is it because of new regulations in the paint used? I left my old chairs out in the elements i.e. rain, snow, heat, sun on a grass lawn and they wore like iron. The newer ones were not on a porch but were stored for the winter and started rotting and pealing after 1 year. Is it because of the wood used now? I'll reluctantly give up the wood for the all-weather but it's hard to believe that LLBEAN would allow this to happen to an ICONIC symbol of the company like the Adirondack Chair. If they can't be made right in wood anymore, then just don't make them.
