As another reviewer wrote, the comforter is pretty noisy. After 2 weeks it was still noisy so I put a cotton cover on it and it still makes just as much noise every time one of us rolls over or pulls the comforter up over us. When I hold the comforter up the light shines through and I can see patches where the down has shifted in its 'box" leaving a big "hole". I might recommend this for light summer use if you use a comforter in the warm months. We turn our thermostat down to 64 at night in the fall/winter and this is just not warm enough.

I have two of these, purchased before they changed the material in 2008. The new material is starchy and makes a ton of crunchy noise. It is very rough and not soft like the old ones I have. I love this product so I called Customer Service. The rep confessed that she had to wash hers a few times before she liked it. They apparently changed the design in 2008 so the fabric lasts longer and does not "leak" feathers. She suggested I try washing it and I could always return it I was still unhappy. Two washes in an industrial washer (and lots of fabric softener) and it feels like the old design. Very happy now!

This is the best comforter we've ever owned. I bought a twin for my son when he was little. He is now 19 and the blanket is still in use! It is finally wearing out. I've been stitching the holes shut. We've never had a hole until this past year and the blanket is at least 15 yrs. old. I think if I keep stitching it we can get another 15 yrs.out of it! It is so soft and warm that it has been in constant use and never stored. Any feather leakage has been minimal and was never a problem for us.Also,I love the super soft cover so we don't use a duvet. It is used in summer just as much as the rest of the year. We like it so much we use it on our Queen size bed now! Looking forward to purchasing another in a bigger size!

My husband has tried for 50 years to get me to buy a down comforter. The only problem is it is so comfortable that we hate getting out of bed in the a.m. The best part is there is no hassle
making the bed. Thks LL Bean and to your wonderful customer service helping me to make the right decisions.

I had a cheap down comforter so for our 6th wedding anniversary, and a sub zero day, we upgraded to a down comforter from llbean. It has kept us warm, I've not had any problems with feathers leaking and my allergy prone spouse has not had any issues. It's warm so we only use it in the winter.

I returned this quilt because it leaked feathers like crazy. I kept it inside a cover and never washed it in the year or so I had it, but when I would shake out the quilt inside the cover to unbunch it, feathers would come out of the bottom of the cover. This wansn't a feather here and there, it was loads of them, mostly very small. Poor quality and also unheatlhy. Not what I expect from LLBean.

All excited to get this from the santa gods we worship. I get the package and immediately I noticed that the package was way too light. I open to find an incredibly under-stuffed, starchy, thin, thing. I'm actually in this comforter at this moment and I'm not enjoying this at all. the fabric is sooooo uncomfortable. There is almost no down in this comforter. I'm oh so incredibly disappointed in this product. I was looking forward for a wonderful down to keep me warm through these winters.

I have read the reviews and agree with them all. I bought this comforter 3 years ago. The cover is very comfortable and warm. It is the best comforter I've ever owned. However, I find feathers all over my bed and floor almost daily. This is NOT 100% down proof. Also, my wife some times get pricked by the feathers working their way out.
If Bean fixes the shedding problem, this would be the best comforter ever.

The comforter is great, warm but not too warm, however as other reviewers have said it is definitely not down-proof. I use a pure white duvet and do not have any issue at all with comforter cover showing through. Every time the cover is removed there are quite a few feathers inside but are taken care of in one wash of the duvet. I have two of these that I have been using almost a year and they both shed feathers but no issue with the color. Even with the feather issue, it is still a much better comforter than the others I have tried.

We bought one of these comforters last season and my son loves it. He is typically a very warm kid and this does make him a little too warm so he kicks it off at night. However, he loves to snuggle into it after bath time and get all nice and toasty. I must be lucky because we haven't had any feathers shedding! I have washed it many times in my large capacity front load washer and dryer. Turns out beautifully! We have a blue flannel duvet so the off white color has never been a problem. So I am buying another one today for my second little boy. Hope he loves it too!
