I have ordered double chinos classic for years because I can wear them anywhere and they work. I most often wear them with a sport coat and [LLBean] turtle neck and they look great. But for a casual affair, such as a summer picnic, they work just as well. They are indeed "classic," for they make any outfit look right.

I have purchased many pairs of classic fit double L chinos and will continue to purchase them. However, EVERY pair I have purchased fray at the cuff. If it were not for this one problem I would give them 5 stars. I hope they fix this problem soon! I know I can return them and get a new pair for free and I just did this for the first time but I would rather have them strengthen the cuff so that I don't have to keep buying them so often and don't have to return them.

i feel i have been a loyal customer to LL Bean since 1978.I have purchased a multitude of items, including Bean Mocs, sweaters, pants, shirts etc. andI have been pleased with my purchases.
During the past year, I have purchased 4 pairs of Double L Chino pants, and they have not lasted 6 months. with 4 pairs of pants, it allows me to change often enough so that they should not waer out so quickly. I sent back four some of these pants, and I was sent additional pairs at no charge, but i still experienced the same problem.
I was wondering if the solution used to make pants wrinkle- free may be the culprit in causing these pants to wear out quickly or if having them cuffed might make a difference.
I purchased a pair of the more expensive $64.00 chinos and had them cuffed. These have held up quite well, but they are nearly $25.00 more / pair.
I know you cannot get back to every complaint that is submitted, but in looking at other complaints, i notice that others are experiencing the same complaints which I have.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Davidw99 Needs serious quality control on sizing
I ordered a pair of these pants about a year ago. The waist was perfect. So, I ordered two more pair, same waist size. One of these two pair was snug and the other tight. This time I ordered 1 inch larger at the waist to compensate for the variation in waist size. This pair was nearly as tight as the tight one described above. Come on LL Bean, what can be so hard about getting the waist size consistent? Inexcusable. These will be going back. To bad. The pant material is great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by LLBeanFanSince1980 Shoddy fabric
These pants began showing wear almost immediately in the knees and seat. After a few weeks of light use the hems became noticeably frayed. Then a rip appeared in one of the knees. These are not the Double-L Chinos of the old days, which were made from a high-quality polyester/cotton blend that lasted many years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Catechumen Ehhh - medicore, at best
I bough four pairs of these pants a little over a year ago. I've never really been happy with them. I'm wearing a pair today, as I type this, and I suppose it is my dissatisfaction with them while wearing them today that has driven me to write a review.
There's nothing that sticks out as terrible, but there are a number of factors that all add up to make these among my least favorite chinos - of maybe 20 or so pairs.
The fabric does seem wrinkle resistant, but the fabric also seems - I don't know - different; it doesn't soften or mellow; it seems coarse and gives the feeling of having polyester content.
The rise is a bit low and seems to "cut" up the backside and to sit a bit too low on the waist.
The waist is a bit loose and gets looser throughout the day.
They fit baggy and unflattering - especially at the thigh/hip.
I'm sorry I ordered four pair. .

Rated 3 out of 5 by GreatLakessailor Too much fading on the front of the fly
On the Navy and Black pants fading takes place along the front of the fly. I have washed them only in cold water but this has happened on the last several pair I have bought. It's hard to understand why this should happen since there is no other fading apparent. I guess it will be best to stick with the natural khaki Coles only and stay away from the dark colors.

I have been an LLB customer for 50 years. I have been extremely pleased ... especially with coats, shoes, sweaters. and shirts.
But your chinos for past few years have greatly disappointed. The classic fit sits well below the waist ... you need to provide "rise" measurement. Not possible to correctly order an inseam measurement without knowing the rise. A short rise can change the inseam by 2 inches ... besides a short rise just isn't what many older gents want.
Also, the chinos are not as durable or wrinkle resistant. I have 10 year old LLB chinos in better shape than chinos bought less than two years ago (I wear chinos weekends only).
I tried your dress chinos. The rise is better but are not as wrinkle resistant as claimed.
I tried your natural fit which has a longer rise but are too baggy in the thigh.
If I tried a longer inseam would the pants also have a longer rise? Do the pleated chinos have a longer rise? I need a 12.5 rise to feel comfortable.
I need a comfortable rise, better durability (the pockets and cuffs fray after 5-6 washes), and real wrinkle resistant chinos like you used to sell.
Ahh for the pants you used to sell. I miss them. There must be many 50 + men with the same experience as I. Why not solve these problems and bring customers like me back into your Chino market?

Rated 2 out of 5 by HistTeachRJM Quality Slipping
I have been wearing these to either school or work for nearly forty years. They are a wardrobe staple along with oxford shirts. The quality is not what it used to be. They fray much quicker than usual especially in the seat and the bottoms are always in need of repair. I am often having to resew buttons on and it's getting tougher the thread the needles. I appreciate the reasonable pricing but not when the quality is no longer like it was,

First, we love LL Bean!!!!!!
Second, I still love the fit, look and feel of the Double L Plain Front Chinos. However, I agree with other reviewers. I am finding that today's Double L Chinos are fraying WAY too quickly at the hem, and other places.
Been buying them for years, if not decades. Used to wear them not only for casual wear, but also in the forests and on jobsites. Not sure if I would do that today.
Oh, well.... change is hard. But we still love LL Bean!!
