I have ordered double chinos classic for years because I can wear them anywhere and they work. I most often wear them with a sport coat and [LLBean] turtle neck and they look great. But for a casual affair, such as a summer picnic, they work just as well. They are indeed "classic," for they make any outfit look right.

It took me 6 months to remember I had purchased these pants. (Understandable, since I moved my home & office across town.) Well, I'm wearing them now, and they are very comfortable, the length is exactly as I specified, the waist is right-on, and the material is good quality.
They attract a bit of lint but that's why we have those lint brushes!
Overall, yes, I recommend them.

I have bought similar pants in the past from LLB with the same measurements, but these Chinos have an Inseam that is much shorter than normal. I will return them.

I bought these for my husband, using his usual jeans size for LLBean. They are super! Look wonderful, little wrinkling, no strain at the waist, no clown pants look. They seem a slightly more forgiving waist fit than the jeans....maybe it's the fabric. But they sure look nice (and more grown-up than jeans!). He is 5'10", 158 and wears 33/32. If that is you or yours, you can't miss. I will be ordering more of these for him.

I agree with numerous reviews of the Double L Chinos. The pants are nicely styled, and I like the fact they are available in 31" waist. However, there has been a slippage in quality over the last few years. The legs fray far too easily- I do not buy the pants with cuffs. The legs on all colors tend to discolor quickly as well, especially Navy. I do like the color options and availability, but no more than 3 stars for this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KhakiMan Even better than before
LL Bean has improved these chinos and they were already good. I bought the classic fit and it has just the right rise (at the waist) and the length is perfect too. The fit is not baggy at all but also is not the "modern fit" that looks ridiculous on anyone who is not skinny as a rail. The new light khaki color is a nice shade and a lighter version of the dark khaki shade they sell. Their khaki is actually more stone than a traditional khaki. I'm sure these will eventually wear out just like any chinos will wear out after much use and washing, but they are durable so far. I do not understand the negative reviews; these are a good value and a nice looking and fitting pair of chinos.

I have purchased many pairs of classic fit double L chinos and will continue to purchase them. However, EVERY pair I have purchased fray at the cuff. If it were not for this one problem I would give them 5 stars. I hope they fix this problem soon! I know I can return them and get a new pair for free and I just did this for the first time but I would rather have them strengthen the cuff so that I don't have to keep buying them so often and don't have to return them.

i feel i have been a loyal customer to LL Bean since 1978.I have purchased a multitude of items, including Bean Mocs, sweaters, pants, shirts etc. andI have been pleased with my purchases.
During the past year, I have purchased 4 pairs of Double L Chino pants, and they have not lasted 6 months. with 4 pairs of pants, it allows me to change often enough so that they should not waer out so quickly. I sent back four some of these pants, and I was sent additional pairs at no charge, but i still experienced the same problem.
I was wondering if the solution used to make pants wrinkle- free may be the culprit in causing these pants to wear out quickly or if having them cuffed might make a difference.
I purchased a pair of the more expensive $64.00 chinos and had them cuffed. These have held up quite well, but they are nearly $25.00 more / pair.
I know you cannot get back to every complaint that is submitted, but in looking at other complaints, i notice that others are experiencing the same complaints which I have.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Davidw99 Needs serious quality control on sizing
I ordered a pair of these pants about a year ago. The waist was perfect. So, I ordered two more pair, same waist size. One of these two pair was snug and the other tight. This time I ordered 1 inch larger at the waist to compensate for the variation in waist size. This pair was nearly as tight as the tight one described above. Come on LL Bean, what can be so hard about getting the waist size consistent? Inexcusable. These will be going back. To bad. The pant material is great.

These pants began showing wear almost immediately in the knees and seat. After a few weeks of light use the hems became noticeably frayed. Then a rip appeared in one of the knees. These are not the Double-L Chinos of the old days, which were made from a high-quality polyester/cotton blend that lasted many years.
