Recently retired, my wife and I are headed to Alaska for several weeks to hike and camp through Denali and Kenai Fjord National Parks. Not knowing what weather to expect, I bought these boots to replace a pair I have had for 20 years. The new ones are just as comfortable as my old ones - like waterproof slippers with insulated lining.

I've had three pairs of these shoes over a 30 year period, but the last pair caused me blistering on the back of my heels from a manufacturing flaw. I had actually owned them for several years but had stopped wearing them. I took them back to the Dedham MA to ask about replacement. The sales people were 100% helpful in arranging the exchange, and, although my size was out of stock, I received the replacements at my door in less than 48 hours. I can't say enough about LL Bean service--always top-notch. BTW, I would give my first two pairs of Gumshoes a 5 star rating. The 4 star rating is only because I encountered the defect with the pair that I just exchanged for the new ones.

Excellent product, excellent service, made in the USA!!!!!!! What more can I add? I go to great lengths to buy products made in America and will gladly pay more for a product if it keeps Americans working. Relative to size for Bean Boots, read the other reviews, and pay very close attention. I wear size 10 1/2 shoes but a size 9 Bean Boot is the perfect fit.

Just to let u know, just got my husband a new pair of boots. He has had his last pair of LL Bean boots for over 20 years, maybe more. I ordered the same boots with thinsulate, etc. but the ones he received today had half the leather than his old ones. He still loves them, but those old ones were so neat! Sorry the design changed, some of us just don't!
He was wondering if you might know if any one still makes them like you did ages ago! He used to be able to send the boots back to you and you would replace the bottoms and return them:(
But still love LL Bean.

The product itself is desirable......however, the sizing is way off...
Generally I would order a ten and a half. The boot is not offered in half sizes so went to a ten (not available in the Mansfield store)so ordered in catalog at store...came in several days but size was way off...had to go to a nine wide...once again had to order in store. Delivery was a few days later and once again size not right. Have decided to skip the order all together.

I have wanted a pair of these and have always found an excuse not to order some. Have had the Chinese knockoffs and they are garbage. I'm here to tell you these boots are worth the cost. Listen to them when they tell you about the fit though. I like mine a bit loose because a tight boot won;t be as warm. Right out of the box they fit great. The arch support is fantastic and the Thinsulate lining is warm. I am going to purchase the full rise boots come next winter. Very,very pleased with this product. Thanks LL Bean for making these in the USA also. That means a lot!!!!
