The high qualify of material and workmanship in these boots stand up to year-round use in the garden and horse barn. I purchased my first pair in the early 70's and just replaced them, although had I returned them for resoling earlier, I probably would still be wearing the original pair! My shoe sizing is 7 1/2 to 8 and I ordered the size 7 Bean Boot and the fit is perfect. Couldn't be more pleased.

The boots are toasty, comfy, and waterproof. Just what I needed. Mud? Hose them off and go.

I purchased these boots for my wife. We originally ordered the size 7 and they were entirely too big. We contact customer service and they were excellent. We returned the size 7 for a size 6 expecting this to resolve our issue. The size 6 came in a couple of days as promised and they were too tight. These boots need to come in 1/2 sizes for those that do not always fit in the little box.
The boots appeared to be well constructed, but we will never know how they would hold up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by lizlove1 Sturdy and warm, but sizing off and uncomfortable
I am unfortunately quite disappointed with these boots. One on hand, they seem sturdy and are warm and water-proof. I also think they're cute. But on the other hand, the fit is way off, and thanks to a tongue malfunction on my right boot they're just not comfortable.
The fit/sizing issue: After reading LLBean's instructions to order a size down, I ordered a size 6. Unfortunately I could barely fit my foot in. So then I ordered my regular size, a 7. After waiting nearly 3 weeks, I was excited received them. But they are too big! Right after receiving them, we got a big snow storm, so I decided to try them out, thinking maybe my foot would swell a bit throughout the day or "break in" the boot so it fit better. Unfortunately even with very thick socks, the boot is just too big. It feels like foot is constantly sliding around inside the boot as i walk...not at all comfortable.
Tongue issue: Separately, the tongue on my right boots has a permanent curl in it that makes the boot even more uncomfortable. The tongue just won't lie flat on the top of my foot - instead it curls in and rubs the top of my right foot constantly. I think my boots had been ordered and tried on before me, since the first pair was unlaced but the second pair wasn't. It's possible that the previous person returned the boots because of this tongue issue. I just wish I had too :-(
Long story short: waterproof and warm, but the sizing is way off and a construction issue makes them very uncomfortable. I would definitely return these if I could.

I should have listened to the other reviews! I normally wear a size 8 boot and 8 1/2 shoe and probably could have used a size 7 in this boot. I was afraid it would be too small but the 8 I ordered is too big (even with thick socks). I did not want to wait for them so I did not return them but the quality and comfort are right on the mark. I actually found puddles on campus to splash in to test them out and made it to class with dry, warm feet!

I bought these boots after owning a pair of Dexter hunting boots for 26 years! Needless to say, my standards are high given how long my previous boots lasted! So far, I like my new L.L. Bean boots. The stitching isn't perfect between the rubber and leather, but I haven't found it to affect me when I wear the boots. They definitely run big. I usually wear size 8 and I ordered a size 7. The thinsulate keeps my feet warm. In the last snow storm we had, my feet were sweating! I do miss the faux shearling lining (around the ankles) that was in my Dexter boots, though. The thinsulate is only in the rubber part of the boot. So far, I like the boots. And...they are made in Maine!

I have these boots, 32 years now and I still love them! Only problem is my daughters keep borrowing them... Santa may be ordering 3 pairs so I can have mine back!
They are roomy, but meant for thick socks...

I purchased these insulated boots as I live in western NY state where winter lasts and lasts. I had tried the uninsulated version but my feet got too cold, even with wool socks.
I could not be happier with the thinsulate lined version. They are sturdy, warm, and very comfortable. I have worn them in snow, sleet, rain; worn them for eight plus hours at a time. They are extremely comfortable and look great. Well worth the money.

I usually wear an 8.5 and I got a 7 and they fit perfectly! I was worried about my feet not being warm enough without the full liner, but they are totally fine with just the thinsulate! (although I have not worn them in a lot of snow yet) I seriously would recommend these to absolutely everyone but watch your size!
